Jayme Future's Perspective of Tank Vs. Ice
Ever since I was given the opportunity to wrestle in EDW, I've seen the EDW Title go from KO Kid, to Vern, and now to Tank Taylor. And out of those three, no one has been more dominant than Tank. But on July 23rd, 2001, at EDW1, which is when I made my debut, it was Ice Man who captured my attention as the standout. A lot of people spoke about Sharp as the guy who would one day be the number one man back then, but EDW5 is approaching, and Sharp no longer wrestles here. Instead, the main event will be between two men who have proven that they can last here.
I don't think anyone is better to write this than me - because though people have known Scot longer than I have, and people have known Tank longer than I have, nobody knows the both of them well. Except me. I've seen guys come and go in EDW, but Scot is one of those who is a mainstay. Tank Taylor is someone who I thought would one day be perfect in EDW, but never quite knew how he'd fare. I've wrestled alongside and against the both of them. But today is about when these two collide.
"Ice Man" Scot Williams has never won the EDW Title. He has had chances, but never in a one on one situation; never with a chance like this. He has the mountain to climb on the 25th. His style is very diverse - you never know what style he'll employ. A true all rounder - he can break out moves from any style, whether it is strikes (his knees), power moves, (piledriver, powerbomb), highflying moves, (rolling thunder, standing corkscrew) or submission (liontamer). In my opinion, nobody gels these styles together as Scot does. This is make or break time for Scot, and I really believe that hell go all out in this match, in an attempt to win the title
That said, Tank Taylor is, to put it simply, a destruction device. What Scot needs to do is look at his opponents, and look at their downfalls. Virus tried to go toe to toe with Tank, and got destroyed. KO was the same. FX went for a different method, and had a fair bit of success with his speed, and came close to beating him, but Tank proved to be too strong. Vern has a sound strategy, in going for the leg, but wasnt consistent with it, which left him wide open to a Gore and a 3:25. No style has provided a chink in his armour thus far, but Ice needs to find what weak point he has, because if he doesnt he wont win. Likewise, Ice is so well rounded, that Tank needs to have a strategy too. So, with that in mind, here are my key points for what each mans strategy should be

Tank Taylor
1. Try to make it a power-based match If this happens, Scot will go down the same road as everyone else. If Tank keeps it standing, he can use his punches and high impact offence to wear him out
2. Keep every move separate If Scot knows what is coming next, he has the wits to find a counter. If Tank hits one high impact move, then another, rather than doing combination moves (like his suplexes or knees), then Scot will find an escape to each one much tougher.
3. Go for the Gore sparingly The Gore is a devastating move when it connects, no doubt, but if he goes for it without enough power, he puts his head right into the position for Breaking the Ice.

Scot Williams
1. Get Tank Taylor angry If Scot can get Tank frustrated, and swinging the fists wildly, then, although if one connects it could be trouble, by getting Tank to wrestle Scots match rather than his own, then he wont think about the moves before he goes for them, and hell make mistakes.
2. Go for the Ice Pick The leg strategy began to work in Verns match, and with a move like the Ice Pick, considerable damage can be done. Also, its a lot harder, on one leg, to hit key moves, like the 3:25 (if Tank can do it at all on Scot), the Cliffhanger, and the Gore (wont be able to get speed).
3. Only go for Breaking The Ice if absolutely necessary When Scot hooks the head for this move, there is a half a second period where Scot goes to hook the leg. All Tank has to do is turn his body slightly and lift, and he has him up for the 3:25. Again, Im not sure if he can, but if he does, then its over.

All in all, at this point, where he havent seen what the two can do against each other, it is very difficult to say wholl win. Its a high-pressure situation, and both men will be at their best, but who will it be to come out of this match as the number one man in EDW? I dont know, but either way, it should be a hell of a match.
