| - Mexican - Degree in Communications - Author of more than ninety children�s books and novels for young adults published in Mexico, United States and Spain by the publishers Trillas, Grijalbo, Everest, Scott Foresman, Mac Millan/ Mc Graw-Hill, and Castillo. More than one million of copies sold with the main objective of gaining readers. - Author of the highly acclaimed book of methods to encourage reading, �Si no leo, me a-burro�, at pre-school, primary, middle, and high school levels, approved by Mexican governmental authorities of education --SEP, UNAM-- and Bilingual Schools in the United States. (Published by Random House Mondadori). - Professor of Latino American Literature (UNAM University, Mexico), Professor of the Communications degree program (CCH-CIE, Mexico), and teacher of several diploma reading courses augured by Universities in Mexico, United States, Guatemala, and Venezuela. - He received the Hans Christian Anderson International Award, awarded in 1982 in London, England and was incorporated in the �Honor List�, which distinguishes writers all around the world for considering their literary work �of international importance�. He being the first Mexican author in that list. - Founder of ASNAC (National Association of Storytellers) and Co-Founder of IBBY (National Children�s and young adults� literature Development Association) - His books are used in U.S. schools for Spanish Language Curriculums, where they discuss literature from various Spanish-speaking countries. - Member of the Latino American Literature Department Jose Mart�, established in Caracas, Venezuela, and member of the Founder�s team of the International Book Fair for children and young adults in Mexico. - External consultant for �Papalote, Museo del Ni�o� (Children�s Scientific Museum, Mexico) where they incorporated some of his ideas and projects regarding exhibitions and scientific exhibits, as well as co-founder and shareholder of the scientific magazine for children, where he developed 30 toys using recycled materials. - He was in the judges' panel for the National Children�s Literature Awards �Juan de la Cabada� (In Bellas Artes, Mexico), for the Publishing House Industry in Mexico, and the �Antonio Robles� Award (IBBY). - Presenter and scriptwriter for Radio and Television programs (IMER Radio, Channel 13, Televisa, Cable TV and Television Mexiquense), besides being the author of stories told by the musical group �Flans�. - Director of the Cultural Center �El Rincon� and of the Ibero American Festivals of Storytellers, with the participation of 9 countries, celebrated in Mexico, Venezuela, and Spain. - He being the first Storyteller in Mexico (since 1980) and the instructor of many storytellers in Mexico, United States, Spain, and Venezuela. - Literary reviews consultant for the publishers: Trillas, Ediciones Castillo, Scott Foresman, Random House, and directive positions in Santillana Publishers, Mexico. - Author of the new book �El Arte de Contar Cuentos�, (The Art of Storytelling) with Random House Mondadori, based on his methodology to create Storytellers. - For many years, he has been invited by the USA School Districts to tell stories to primary school students in bilingual schools and to give conferences to teachers and librarians regarding the methods to be used to motivate readership in children and young adults. |
