Eduardo Morales was born in La Habana the tenth of March 1969 and has been residing in Madrid since 1996. He graduated in Music from the Instituto Superior de Arte in La Habana in 1994, where he specialised in composition under the tutelage of Carlos Fariñas, Head of the Departament of Composition.

 Upon his graduation, he was appointed to the position of "Profesor Superior" in harmony, poliphony, morphology, orchestration and composition, thus becoming part of the mainbodyof professors in the Instituto.

He has won various prizes for his cycles of songs and compositions."El río ya no está" won prizes for composition in the National Union of Writers and Artists contest in 1991.

In 1994 "Esta larga tarea de aprender a morir" won the prize for vocal instrumental ensemble. Hethen went on to win prizes for interpretation, investigation and artistic creation,culminating in the Andrés Segovia / J.M. Ruiz Morales prize in the international course "Musica in Compostela".

 In 1996 he began a post-graduate course at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Madrid under the tutelage of Antón García Abril, to whom he dedicated his first symphonic work" Los ojos del Guadiana" y "Especulaciones I,II and III" for wind trio.

In 1997 the attainment of a grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education and Culture enabled him to undertake a course in electro-acoustic music under the direction of Adolfo Núñez. At the sametime, his piece "En lo oscuro del alma", habanera for violin and piano, appears in the first anthology of concert habaneras recorded by the company "PICAP" as homage to the veteran Spanishcomposer Xavier Montsalvatge.

 The year 2000 saw him complete his studies in Doctorate of Music at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and also win first prize in the International 

Competition "José Asunción Flores" in Paraguay for his symphonic piece "Homenaje Guaraní".

 In 2001 he won first prize for his piece "El jardín de Lindaraja", in the XIV "Andrés Segovia" International Competition for Composition for classical guitar in Almuñécar, La Herradura, Granada. This piece can be found in the EMEC catalogue.

 September of this year 2001, he was awarded First Prize for his composition "Las Sombras Divinas" in the first edition of the International Composition contest I LAMS, based in London.

He is currently a member of the S.G.A.E. and has had several compostions recorded for the classical radio in Spain. He also finds time to be a member of "Talea", a group of young composers in Madrid who are dedicated to promotion ofc ontemporary classical music.

His works have been performed in various international festivals such as The International Festival of La Habana, The Festival of Dance and Music in Granada and premiered in Madrid, Barcelona and Valladolid as well as the countries of Canada, Sweden, France, Mexico, Columbia, Japan and Holland.

His biography and catalogue of works is included in the Ibero-american Dictionary of Music. In the words of Harold Gramatges (1st. Prize-winner, "Tomás Luis de Victoria")," 

The songs of Eduardo Morales can take their place amongst those of the great Cuban composers of the last century in continuing thetradition of composition.
