Caucasian Club

Well, the inevitable finally happened.  With every other group taken care of, a high school girl in California has decided to do something to help the last remaining “non-disadvantaged” group in America. Lisa McClellan is forming a Caucasian Club on campus.  The results were predictable.

Darnell Turner, of the local chapter of the NAACP, tossed out  the usual racial grenade:

"When we use the word 'white' or 'Caucasian' or whatever, it has always been associated with racial bigotry.”

Normally the NAACP tosses one or more of these and Caucasians are seen quickly retreating, carrying their dead and wounded.  But something’s different this time. Listen to what some of the kids at the school have to say.

''It'd be tight because they can learn more about their history,'' -  Freshman Tyleisha Crooks, 14, black

''I think it's fair for white people to have their own club because every other race has their own club'' -

sophomore Elliott Perez, 14, Latino and white

White people have long jokingly speculated, among ourselves of course, what the reaction would be to a “White College Fund” or  a “National Association of White People”.  But it was a grim joke.  We knew the answer.  We knew better than to ask such questions in public.

But modern kids don’t know better. They’ve had anti-racism beat into them since the day they entered their multicultural schools.  In fact, racism is just about the worst thing a person can do next to harming the environment.  And unfortunately for Mr. Turner, it took hold.  Modern kids can see fair’s fair.  They know true racism when they see it.  But they don’t know when they’re supposed to shut up.  They don’t understand  when it’s “reverse racism” we’re supposed to look at it as a good thing.  They haven’t yet been introduced to the master the Darnell Turners of the world serve.

Inspired by the courage of this young lady I’m going to go out on a limb and say this, er, speak out.  It’s ok to be white.  You’re probably not a bad person.  There are millions of us Caucasians who aren’t racists.  A new day is dawning.  A day when we’ll be judged by the content of our character rather than the color of our skin.
