Dandelions of doubt

Isn't it amazing how one dandelion can spread throughout a yard when the wind blows the seeds around? It seems like one day they are scattered randomly throughout the yard, and the next day they are all over. And no matter what you do, they always seem to come back - they even make a special pesticide for them.

Doubt can be like that. It just takes one little seed of doubt, being blown about by the winds of confirmation in the world to start to pull us away from God. And once the little seed of doubt gets rooted, it sometimes takes something powerful to get rid of it.

Often times, it is a careless word spoken by someone we know. Sometimes it is a comment by a stranger. Sometimes, it could be a negative thought to ourselves - example: I'll never be good at this. Then you start thinking about it, that maybe they were right. After awhile, you start to believe it, and accept it as truth. Then, you start acting upon it, trying to fix something that may not even be wrong.

Just as parts of dandelions can be used for food, doubt could be useful, too. The key is to learn from the mistakes, and grow from them, and not let doubt grow.

When we act upon what someone said, we tend to draw away from God, concentrate on the problem more, and forget that we are precious to Him, that we are valuable to Him, and made in His image.

While we are down, the devil doesn't let up - he presses in harder. We start to think about other areas of life in which maybe we aren't so good. When we hit bottom, the devil hands us a shovel. But God is waiting, ready to throw a rope over the side and pull us up, but we have to let Him.

Revelation 3
20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.

There is a special pesticide for the weeds or doubt in life. There are many different brands (NIV, KJV, NKJV, etc.). The name of it is the Bible. When you open it, you find God's love pouring out. And if you really believe what it says, the dandelions of doubt don't stand a chance.
