SAFELY CONTROL PESTS
Bugs and pests are a nuisance and can pose potential hazards to you and your loved ones. Pest and bug control is important for your home or business. Pesticides/chemicals are used when necessary, but pesticides only kill a small number of pests. When chemicals are needed we use safer products and take care not to apply pesticides in a manner that will cling to carpets, furniture and other surfaces so as to limit exposure to you, your family and pets. We use dusts, gel baits, bait stations, sticky traps, rodenticides, baits and traps.  Sprays alone will not eliminate cockroaches.
Limit access into a building from outdoors or other areas of the building:
    * Seal cracks and other openings to the outside.
    * Use weather stripping on doors and windows.
    * Look for other methods of entry, such as from items being brought into the building, especially appliances, furniture, and items that were recently in storage.
    * Inspect food deliveries before putting them in kitchens.
    * Look for egg cases glued to undersides of furniture, in refrigerator and other appliance motors, boxes, and other items. Remove and destroy any that you find.
    * Locate and seal cracks inside the treatment area where cockroaches can hide.
    * Trim shrubbery around buildings to increase light and air circulation, especially near vents, and eliminate ivy or other dense ground covers near the house, as these may harbor cockroaches.
    * From around the outside of buildings remove trash and stored items such as stacks of lumber or firewood that provide hiding places for cockroaches.
    * Consider keeping a layer of gravel about 6 to 12 inches wide around the perimeter of buildings.
Insects and rodents can contaminate food, damage your home and make allergies and asthma worse. To get rid of pests and keep them from coming back, you have to deprive them of everything they need to survive:
Manage your garbage. Use garbage cans with tight-fitting lids (metal ones are best) for garbage and recycling. Clean them often, inside and out.
Put food away at night. Wash the dishes. Wipe down the stovetop, counters and tables.
Remove water sources. Fix leaky faucets by replacing washers.
Reduce clutter. Recycle piles of newspapers, paper bags, cardboard, and bottles, especially around stoves and refrigerators.
Clean small appliances. Cockroaches like warm, dark places such as toasters, countertop grills, microwave ovens and clocks.
Pest-proof your food. Store all boxed or loose food in containers that seal tight plastic, glass, or coffee cans with lids.
Once you have chosen to hire a professional/licensed exterminator, continued monitoring will be necessary. A partnership should be formed with the pest control professional/exterminator and the owner/resident in order to eliminate conditions that lead to infestation.
If you choose to attempt treatment on your own, never purchase or use a product without a manufacturer's label, never buy pesticides from street vendors and never use products called Chinese Chalk, Tres Pasitos or Tempo.
