XL's
XL's is a nightclub located above the Five Ways Shopping Centre in Birmingham. It is a well known rock nightclub and was very popular during the mid-1990s. It was a favourite hang out spot, along with the Xposure Rock Café in central Brum, for touring rock bands playing anywhere in the Midlands (including the Donington festivals).
Local boy Barney Greenway from Napalm Death still frequents the place.
XL's is divided into three rooms, each with different styles of music. The main room has two bars and a big dance floor in the middle. This room is where most of the 'ruck-sack posse' like to hang out.
The sort of music that gets played in this room includes - Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Blink 182, Offspring, Sepultura, Foo Fighters, Type O Negative, Marilyn Manson, Pantera, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Alice In Chains and Pearl Jam - if you're really lucky that might even play some classic Metallica or Slayer.
The so-called Cocktail Lounge is more commonly known as the Glammy Room. Most of the folks in this room have back-combed hair, denim jackets, tight trousers and 'frash-fringes', some even have mullets!
The sort of music they play in here includes - Guns 'N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Ratt, Poison, WASP, The Cult, Buckcherry, Bon Jovi, Motörhead - and even Metallica on occasion. (Metallica are the only band that seems to get played in both rooms.)
The third room is probably best left alone all together - its all shit indie music and hip-hop.
It's best to avoid draught beers as a rule, but the's plenty of bottled and canned beers to try including - Carling, Red Stripe, Newcastle Brown Ale, Budweiser, Labbat's, etc.
