The Starling

The Starling is one of only two pubs in Pinner Green - the other being The Orange Tree. The Starling is located on the V-shaped corner between Cuckoo Hill and Rickmansworth Road.

We adopted this pub as our regular watering whole for a short space of time after The George in Pinner closed down. The sole reason why we did this was because the land-lady from The George took over The Starling just before it closed in late 1996. We spent two New Year's Eve parties in this pub - at the same table too! (1996/97 and 1997/98 - see photo gallery)

The beer of choice in this place was Tetley's (of course) or Calder's Cream Ale, or occasionally Guinness.

The best thing about this pub was the abundance of Metal on the juke-box. We would often put on Pantera's "Walk", Sepultura's "Territory", Megadeth's "Skin O' My Teeth" or Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" - much to the anoyance of other customers!

Even Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze" got up there noses! Philistines!

Anyway, should you ever have the misfortune of ending up in Pinner Green, I stongly recomend you go to Spanish restaurant across the road instead ("La Giralda") or Tesco's Beers, Wines & Spirits section instead of The Starling.
