Dobell's
Dobell's is situated at the bottom of The Promenade on the corner of County Court Road. This pub was a popular haunt for me during my years living in Cheltenham. Also whenever I go back to Cheltenham for the odd weekend, it is usually the first place I visit.
It often gets packed on Friday and Saturday evenings but is fairly quiet at other times, even when popular sports events are being shown on the telly - football, rugby, tennis, racing, etc.
As well as a TV there are also a pool table and a juke-box. The selection of music usually includes the likes of Metallica, AC/DC, The Cult, the Beastie Boys, Radiohead, Manic Street Preachers, Prodigy, Bon Jovi, etc.
Beers - now we're talking! This pub does both forms of Tetley's Bitter - smooth and cask. They also do Calder's Cream Ale, Guinness regular and Guinness Extra Cold - as well as lagers such as Foster's, Stella Artois, Carlsberg and the usual bottled stuff.
This pub makes an ideal meeting place as it is right in the centre of town and most other pubs, restaurants and venues can be reached from here if you're planning a bigger night out.
