*This is a ‘Found Poem’, which means it’s composed entirely of words from a book or story (in this case, Catcher in the Rye). Shouts to my homeboy J.D. Salinger!*

Holden Caufield

My brothe Allie

you’d have liked him

god, he was a nice kid though

he used to laugh so hard

never got mad at anybody

that’s the kind of red hair he had

He’s dead now

I broke all the windows in the garage

broke all the goddam windows, just for the hell of it

my hands still hurts me once in a while

I hardly didn’t know I was doing it

you didn’t know Allie

D.B., he’s my brother

used to be a regular writer

he wrote this terrific book

it killed me

He’s got lots of dough, now

didn’t use to

he’s out in Hollywood

being a prostitute

My kid sister Phoebe

you’d like her

you never saw a little kid so pretty and smart

she knows exactly what you’re talking about

always has on some dress that can kill you

she’s very affectionate

On the carousel

old Phoebe kept going around and around

she looked so nice

I felt so happy all of a sudden, I was near bawling

God, I wish you could’ve been there
