Strategies for Enhancing Rural Teachers Development

Vasanthi, S, Reader, A. H. Komala, Lecturer & S. Yamini, Lecturer, N.K.T. National College of Education, Triplicane, Chennai - 600 005

Education helps development in two ways to enhance stability of rural society by working towards economic growth and self- reliance, the second towards structural transformation of the society. Education need not bean instrument of change it could itself be an object of change and development. Teacher is a leader on the teaching level and personal level. In teaching level where the teacher deals with students intellectual growth which he can do if he posses or acquires the knowledge and skill required for planning implementing and evaluating a classroom teaching programme.  At the personal level a teacher deals with emotional, spiritual, social growth of students which he or she acquires by understanding and insight for reading every student successfully. Technology is not a perfect substitute for teacher. Technology by itself will not revolutionize the learning process, since technology is a catalyst in the form of competent and dedicated teachers, who can kindle the curiosity of the students to delve deep into any subject. This brings to lime light the role of teachers in education. The pre service provided to teacher trainees at the Colleges of Education does not differ in its content to suit to the rural and urban student teachers, which is a cause for the failure or drawback of teaching service in the rural areas. Thus this paper is aimed to present the pre service and in service provided to teachers and strategies to enhance the development of the rural teachers. To make the vision of Kothari Commission “if quality of teaching is good the academic standards of the students is bound to be high. Ineffective teaching and high standards of students do not go together” to be true.

Empowering Rural Teachers For Improved Classroom Transactions In English

Vijila Asokan, Lecturer, DIET, Thirumoorthy Nagar, Dt. Coimbatore

Undoubtedly, English has now evolved into a highly refined communication medium with the people in almost all the countries of the world increasingly using it for a multitude of purposes.  Now that it has managed to become a truly international language used more and more in world conferences and summit meetings, its usefulness in the Indian context is beyond question.  As a legacy bequeathed to us by the British- English had served to unify the country and also to act as a “window on the world”.  Quite frequently insightful observers of the Indian scene make statements to the effect that English is an invaluable asset to the nation.  What must cause concern however is the rapid decline in the standard of English language teaching in the educational institutions in the country with both the teachers and the taught especially in rural areas, not being in a position to use it effectively.  Only the feel for the language can make the teachers absorb the nuances of English and in turn enable them to transmit their knowledge to the pupils.

Strategies for Enhancing Rural Teachers’ Development

Vinita Singh, Asst. Prof., Faculty of Education, Banasthali Vidyapith - 304 022 Email: [email protected]

On the assumption that schools are both instructional and cultural agencies, schools need to co-construct knowledge by involving teachers and learners in dialogic inquiry.  Hence, teachers as a facilitator need to provide learners the space for critical search for knowledge. This framework calls for such program that aims to ensure the learning needs of all young learners, through equitable access to appropriate learning and life skills. Research pedagogy is being proposed as an approach for this purpose that would enhance interactivity mobility in school community.  A means to motivate and help learners, organize themselves to manage their own activities and to organize themselves to counterbalance the disparity in knowledge management between rural and urban areas. Implicit in the pedagogy of search is the notion of empowerment that enables the emancipation of students by allowing them a voice. This paper examines the theoretical underpinnings required for an articulation of an interactivity mobility through research in rural educational space. Existing practices in classrooms and assumptions about life skills is examined. This analysis articulates the level of planning, and makes an attempt to explore the practical possibilities, restrictions and requirements of rural settings in Indian classroom space.

Modern Age is the Age of Explosion.  The population problem has created a great problem against the way of progress and development.  The population increase has arisen in the form of human problem in which each side of life has become effective it has done effect on health, skill, wealth and income of man.  The national progress is being stopped by effective national income and production.  Data’s of census bring the kind knowledge on the various social sides, increase or decrease in population and common system as occupation, quality of education, religion, and languages etc. Fast increasing population is a serious question among us that is horrible and complicated too.  Watering on the ground side why it does not seem. But thinking deeply, it is seemed how serious and extensive dangers of population are. The ways to get good results from our planned develop works and comfortable futures ambitions are scattering as straw in the flood of present rate of flood of present rate of increasing population.  The population problem is mother of other problems.  It is such spider that it is weaving its web Day-Night, and we are being caught continuous by its warp and waft.
