Lalitha,N, Retd Headmisress, The Children’s Garden  Hr.Sec.School, Chennai - 600 004 & J.  Kausalaya, SG Lecturer, NKTN College of Education for Woman, Chennai - 600 005

Both the teacher and the taught are gifted and capable. Only the potentialities hidden in them have to be tapped. The rural pupils especially yearn to develop their skills like reading, writing, communication and reasoning. The rural teachers on the other hand long to enrich themselves but they lack even the basic infrastructure facilities. There are schools with only one teacher handling all the subjects. But even under such circumstances it is possible for a teacher to adopt the following strategies which are within their means to enrich themselves.  Of course it is up to the teacher to pick and choose whichever is feasible for him/her.
