But in every change remains a detail or concept that is, in actuality, exactly the same as it was before. There used to be values that remained unopposed – blacks don’t deserve jobs; women aren’t as valuable as men; smoking is a fun, relaxing, and recreational activity. Now, it’s the complete opposite – blacks MUST be employed in a job, else the employers are racist; women are just as valuable as men, and if not, then more so; smoking one cigarette will cause an instantaneous congregation of cancer which will end up as a bowling ball sized lump protruding right out of your jugular. But just because the views have changed, doesn’t mean we, ourselves, have gotten better. It just means that humanity has gone from black to white while completely ignoring the gray area. We’ve grasped the idea of societal balance like Gary Coleman trying to bench press Andre the Giant.
Opportunistic and greedy Europeans and Americans have unmercifully oppressed African descendents for years, there’s no question about that. It’s a shame that some people can’t see past skin color, it’s disgusting that humans are naturally inclined to hate, but be honest – does that entitle every black man and woman to a job? Look, the country has apologized. With the exception of the state Alabama and some parts of Kentucky, the Negro community has been accepted as peers. Welcome, finally, to our world. Now understand something – this is a capitalist society. You get a job in this country by gaining the necessary credentials and composing a more impressive resume than your opponent. You do not get it by relying on Affirmative Action. And if you lose the job to a white person, or if you get the job and are fired, don’t automatically associate your boss with Matt Hale and Pat Buchanan. He doesn’t necessarily carry a pocket version of The Turner Diaries. Chances are, he’s either found someone more qualified than you, or you simply don’t cut the black, yellow, green and red-iced cake.
It is a similar situation with many feminists. The phrase, “I am woman, you chauvinists have held me back, watch as I trample you with my pink loafers,” is worn out. The majority of the male race is no longer sexist. You’re being angry with people and views that died out along with I Love Lucy. Bring those inclined eyebrows back down to their relaxed position and come share a piece of what is starting to be every person’s country. Being a woman doesn’t make you better – it makes you different than men, and that means both, positives and negatives. Stop complaining and start working.
The idea that has been hinted at is a simple yet seemingly unpopular one – find a medium between the two views. Society has gone from one extreme to the other, and it will be just as much of a surprise to them once they realize their mistake as it was when they figured out that perhaps salted pig intestine isn’t the most nutritious of consumables available. Find your niche, make sure it logically checks with you, and contentment is almost guaranteed.
Just because you’re gay doesn’t mean you can’t be an extreme skateboarder – and now the only person stopping you is yourself, so get onto that board and start practicing 450’s, and knock off all the blubbering about egalitarianism. We get it; you’re here to stay. Basically everyone’s with you, there will always be prejudiced idiots sitting in a mountain cabin, fondling their rifles, waiting for an excuse to use them on something other than their rabid dogs; it’s as good as it’s going to get for you. So stop whining – it is already established that you’re not worse than us, it’s now time that you realize you’re not better than everyone else.
