I don’t ask for resolution, I’m content to bear the burden,
All I ask is for someone to smile at me while I strain.
Feel my pain and lie with me, and I shall do the same for you.

Take my hand when my fingers fail,
Reassure my grip and soothe my spirit,
If every hero eventually becomes a bore, at least I’ll have you to remember me.
Feel my pain and lie with me, and I shall do the same for you.

Fill my colorless tedium with a hint of vibrancy,
Embolden a luckless fisherman and comfort a broken warrior.
Feel my pain and lie with me, and I shall do the same for you.

And should a time come when you erode, as well,
Fear not…I’ll be right where I am…
Loving you indiscriminately. Untitled Free Verse Poem 1
