Hello, my name is Randall and I enjoy
Being a giraffe.
I love that bouncing echo in my throat
That happens when I laugh.

I love that I can stick my head
Far above the trees.
And even though my legs get hot
My ears get cooled with the breeze.

Although I’m not ferocious,
I have no claws and no fangs,
I’m known to be a partying beast;
You should see me head bang!

It’s nice to still be taller than a man
When I take a snooze,
And I’m quite popular at picnics
As a living pole for horse shoes!

But there is one thing that I loathe…
And I darn it all to heck –
And that’s the overly tedious process
When I try to crack my neck. Poem: Randall the Giraffe 1
