Paul’s parents got a divorce.
He wept with guilt and remorse.
His mom sat him down
And said, “Son, do not frown,
This isn’t your fault, of course.”

Paul’s Dad then moved away.
Paul closed his eyes to pray,
He said, “God, use your might,
Keep my Dad in my sight
And let it all end up okay.”

His Dad said what made him flee,
“I was all alone and empty.
When Paul was born,
His mother was torn,
And she chose him over me.”

Yet he never had the gall
To say any of this to Paul.
Although he had grown,
Paul never had known
The divorce was his fault, after all. Poem: At Fault 1
