COMPUTERS & SOFTWARE

Chapter 1 :-

  1. The Operating system acts like a conductor in an ochestra; having the purpose to coordinate individual components to work together for a common goal/task.
  2. There are 2 kinds of sharing in resource sharing. Space-multiplexed sharing divides a resource into 2 or more units and then allocate each unit to a process. However the Time-multiplexed sharing allows 1 process to have the previlage to use entire resource for a period of time before allowing the next process in queue to to occupy the resource at a later time.
  3. In summary there are 6 different classes of Operating systems and computers. Batch systems, Timesharing systems, PC and workstations, Embedded systems, Small communicating Computers and Network Technology. All serving different purpose to cater to end user needs.
