Texas Candlers ©2000 by Ed Marsh

WARNING: Information appearing on the INTERNET is not documentary proof. This site is offered only as an aid to bonafide genealogical research. These essays explore the identity of Daniel and Hannah Candler, their children and grandchildren, and such issues as might aid in the discovery of the Virginia Candler lineage. Contributions from other Candler writers are welcome. They will retain full intellectual property rights to their work (but I make no claim of protection from illegal copying by the public). The public is free to use this material for non-profit purposes, but please credit the author and source.

I haven't written any essays about the Texas Candlers yet, but I am in communication with several descendants of Texas Candlers. I invite them to submit essays on their proud line of Candlers.

Archer Jessee Candler (1835-1912) moved to Texas in 1858. He was the son of the son of George Washington Candler (1809-1899) and Dicy Jessee (1815-1883) of Russell County, Virginia. It is said that he made the trip overland with a herd of sheep. He made his home in Merit, TX. He married Nancy Elizabeth Honaker in 1869 and Mattie H. Ball in 1894. There were children of both unions.

I'm sure there are many great stories waiting to be shared.
