These essays explore the identity of Daniel and Hannah Candler, their children and grandchildren, and such issues as might aid in the discovery of the Virginia Candler lineage. Reverend Candler had a son named John William Candler. These are certainly the Virginia Candler names of choice, but they are also quite common.
Perhaps not coincidently, Daniel of Virginia had a grandson, Daniel (c1753-1810) -- son of John -- who moved from Virginia to Montgomery County, Maryland, not far from the place where Rev. Candler lived. Recently I have come across records in Frederick County, MD detailing a business transaction between a John Candler and other tobacco growers. Perhaps this lead will eventually show a reason why John Candler of VA had a son who moved to Maryland.
