Robin Orta Sensei started training in martial arts in his early college years. In 1995 he studied Shotokan Karate under Rudy Lucio Sensei at the Molina Neighborhood Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. During this time, he also became a member of the Aikido club at Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi under the guidance of Gilbert Fuentes.
Due to life changes Orta Sensei left the coast in 1997. In 1998 Orta Sensei resumed Aikido studies under the guidance of Kathy Ferland Sensei at the Austin Ki Aikido Center in Austin.
After the birth of his daughter in 2001, Orta Sensei came under the tutelage of Ed Loomis Sensei at the Aikido/Aikijujitsu Self Defense Academy in San Marco, Texas. Robin Orta currently continues to train under Loomis Sensei as well as under the tutelage of Dr. Richard Laue with Aikido of San Marcos. Aside from Aikido and Aikijujitsu, Orta Sensei also purses studies in hanbo-jitsu as well as Judo.
He is happliy married to his loving wife Christina, they have two beautiful children, Griffin and Phoenix. Orta Sensei is also an aspiring illustrator and a current employee of Walmart wharehouse in New Braunfels Tx. |
