List of Educational Technology Available at JSHS

The school currently has 14 overhead projectors, two per department. Generally these are located in the department workrooms. Please work out a fair use schedule for your department.

Our audio-visual department contains 10 VHS-VCRs, two Beta-VCRs, one video camera, one 16-mm filmstrip projector, one laserdisc player, one slide projector, two portable CD-players, and four audiocassette players. Appropriate time sheets for sign-up are located in the audio-visual storeroom, second floor. Please make sure to check these sign-up sheets for availability. (Please note-at certain times of the school year, the video camera is not available due to production of our video yearbook and musical)

Additional CD players and audiocassette players can be found in the drama department. Please check with the department head of English as to the availability of these machines. The French and Spanish departments have their own tape players, but these do not leave their departments.

The library currently contains ten computers. Four of these are set up for reference and word processing alone, and the other six have been connected to the Internet for student research. As well, there are two computer labs, Rooms 112 and 214, with thirty internet-ready computers in each. Room 112 is occupied two classes per day for instructional purposes. Room 214 is available for the entire day (at present time-should the Computer Science department expand, it may become necessary to present courses in this room as well.). There is again a sign-up sheet posted in the staff room regarding the availability of these rooms. Students are also encouraged to make use of the word processing lab, Room C-14, if they require a place to do essays and other written work. This room is occupied two periods per day for instructional purposes.
