Educational Technology

What is educational technology? Our team recognizes that many teachers are somewhat discouraged by the overuse of this "buzz-word." We would like to explain here what comprises educational technology. Strictly speaking, educational technology is any device you, the teacher, use in the instruction of your students over and above your voice, chalkboard and chalk It includes text materials, audio recordings, video recordings, overhead projectors, photographs, slides, filmstrips, laserdiscs, interactive CD-ROM, computers, computer software and hardware, and the Internet.

We realize that many of you already make use of educational technology in your daily classes. This handbook is designed to stimulate use of educational technology and help you to use it to greater effect. Included in this guide are some sample lesson plans, strategy ideas, recommended computer programs, films, videos, and sample evaluation sheets. We do not intend this to be viewed as a rigid set of rules. It is expected that you will modify the suggestions herein to satisfy your particular instructional needs.
