IOSH Forth and Tay District Visit to Perth Fire Station: 3 June 2004

Station Manager Doug Tennant (centre) with some of the members outside the new training facility
Ten Members enjoyed the hospitality of Tayside Fire Brigade on the 3rd June during the District's visit to Perth Fire Station and the new Fire Training facility.
Thanks to Station Manager, Doug Tennant, who gave the group a detailed insight into the services structure, organisation, arrangements and targets, ranging from new initiatives like IRMP (integrated risk management plans), area boundaries, responsibilities from senior Managers through to volunteer Fire Fighters and the wide scope of health and safety issues arising from these.
Refreshments followed Doug’s presentation and then a guided tour of the stations new fire training facility, a purpose built modular unit designed specifically for the needs of the Brigade. Not only allowing real fire situations to be simulated in highly controlled conditions enabling fire fighters to gain experience and awareness to develop techniques in a fail safe environment. It can also be used to create access training situations such as roof access, stair wells and service riser shafts, ships holds and access hatch’s etc.
This new training facility in Perth clearly demonstrates the brigade’s commitment to excellence by providing the best available training for the Service.
