1.0 CHAIRMAN Brian Pill, FIOSH, RSP
The Chair was taken by B Pill. Welcome was extended to all, particularly new Members and Guests. Mention was made of the good turn out and the excellence of the buffet. The reason and format of the meeting being briefed to include an interest Speaker, an address by the Institution's President, annual elections, presentations and accounts.
2.0 GUEST SPEAKER Helen Rowbotham, Countryside Ranger, British Waterways Board (Scotland).
Helen started her talk by thanking the members for the invitation and the opportunity to expand upon the development across Scotland of the Millennium Link Canal. The talk was illustrated by numerous slides and held the interest of the members through to a question session at the end. The areas covered included: A wildlife need; Litter and rubbish removal; Funding; Connecting to the Forth; Interconnecting canals; Civil engineering challenges; Edinburgh Suburbs; Locks and the basic construction of the canal.

The Chairman made a Vote of Thanks and a small presentation.
3.0 PRESIDENT OF IOSH - Mr Paul Faupel FIOSH,RSP - Address to Members

The President indicated his gratitude for the excellent buffet lunch and entertained the members with a joke relating to canals in order to link his presentation to that of the previous Speaker.
The address included the Corporate Plan and it's intended mission and vision and differed from previous Plans as it is intended to be a living document and encompassing all aspects of a Safety Practitioners work including in no small extent the environmental aspects. The address included topics: Critical Items; 'Inside the Tent'; Integrating Activities; Upping our Game and What is in a name. 5.0 CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
The Chairman gave a short report of the activities over the preceding year. Thanks extended to Donaldson's College for the generous use of the facilities and the hard work freely given by the Executive Committee. Although the membership of the Institution now appears to have leveled off there is every indication that the Branch will gain in strength.
Previous AGM Minute tabled and accepted without amendment. Proposed by M Bancroft and Seconded by J McCraith
6.0 TREASURER'S REPORT
Copy of the Accounts and Auditors Report were distributed and talked to by D A Brown. A number of points requiring clarification were discussed and then the members accepted the accounts. Proposed by L Young and Seconded by R Reed.
7.0 ELECTIONS

The Chairman congratulated the Members for their successful elections and stressed that the work to ensure a success in the coming years was just about to start.
8.0 CLOSURE
The members were reminded of the date of the next meeting, as 10 May at 1330 here at Donaldson's College with the subject being Working of IOSH Headquarters - Branch Help and the Speaker Nicky Howard Branch Liaison Co-ordinator. Other social events were also mentioned. RMCT, Site Visit and Golf Outing. For additional information please contact the Secretary.
The Chairman thanked all for their attendance and contribution and bade them a safe journey homeward; then closed the Annual General Meeting with the invitation to meet again in May.
