He was originally a King who recieved the greatest of the Nine Rings, then he was enslaved by Sauron and eventually became the mightiest of his servants. He was the most powerful of the Nazgls, and he wore a crown. His, and the other nazgls fortune rose and fell with Saurons. About 1300 III, the Witch-King disguised himself and formed the evil realm of Angmar in and around the Mountains of Angmar (in the North). This was when he took the name Witch-King of Angmar. He directed the wars against the North-Kingdom, until he in 1975 III finally crushed the Kingdom of Arthedain. But then in the Battle of Fornost the Witch-King and his realm was finally defeated by a united force from Lindon, Rivendell, Gondor, the remaining Dnedains, and som few Hobbit archers. He then fled to Mordor and rejoined the other Nazgls. In 2000 III, he and the other Nazgls attacked Minas Ithil, and took it. They renamed it Minas Morgul and took the Palantr. During the War of the Ring he led the search for Frodo and the Ring, and it was he that attacked and stabbed Frodo at Weathertop. He led the army from Mordor that attacked Minas Tirith. He was the reason Thoden got killed, at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, but was then slain by owyn and Merry, fulfilling Glorfindels prophecy that the Witch-King was not to fall by the hands of a Man. |
