Quote: We do not know much about Tom Bombadil. We do not know what race he was, or how old he was, but he was certainly very, very old and appeared to be immortal. He called himself the Eldest and said that �Tom was here before the river and the trees. Before the seas were bent and before the elves past westward....� Tom Bombadil was married to Goldberry, the River-daughter. They lived in the Old Forest, by the South banks of the Withywindle. Tom saved the hobbits from the Old Man Willow, and invited them to stay in his house. When the hobbits left Tom Bombadil, they got trapped by a Barrow-Wight in the Barrow Downs, But Tom Bombadil saved them again, and then rode with them to the edge of his land on his pony Fatty Lumpkin. It is not known what happend to Tom Bombadil during or after the War of the Ring. |
