Quote:

Saruman arrived in Middle-Earth about 1000 III. He was the chief of the Istari, and the first of them to arrive in Middle-Earth.
Saruman chief power was his voice, which sounded sweeter than elvish singing to the listeners. He could persuade almost anyone to do what he wanted.
The first 1000 years he was in Middle-Earth Saruman travelled in the east of Middle-Earth. He returned to the west and was present at the first meeting of the White Council in  2463 III. He was made its Chief (though both Elrond and Galadriel wanted Gandalf to be the councils leader.)
It was about this time Saruman started to study the Rings of Power.
In 2759 III Steward Beren of Minas Tirith gave Saruman the keys to Orthanc, and he lived there from then on.
In 2851 III the White Council found out that the Necromancer of Dol Guldur was no other than Sauron. Most of the Wise wanted to attack Dol Guldur and drive Sauron out, but Saruman advised against this, and it wasnt until 90 years later that Saruman relented and aided the Wise in driving Sauron out of Mirkwood.
Saruman told the White Council that his researches showed that the One Ring had been lost forever, but he was secretly searching for it himself.
About 3000 III Saruman started using the Palantr of Orthanc, and he was won over by Sauron. But Saruman hoped to find the Ring himself and then overthrow Sauron.
Through his spy Grma Wormtongue, Saruman took control over the country of Rohan.
In July III he lured Gandalf to Orthanc, and tried to persuade him to join with him. Gandalf refused and was imprisoned in Orthanc.
Saruman had damaged the forest of Fangorn to build his armies and during the War of the Ring the Ents took revenge. They flooded Isengard and held Saruman captive in his own fortress.
After the King had been crowned, Saruman used his powers to persuade Treebeard to release him. He then went to the Shire, where he long had had secret dealings. There he was deafeted by the Hobbits on 3 Novenber 3019 III, and he was eventually killed by his own servant, Grma Wormtongue and will never been seen in MiddleEarth again.
