He and his family lived at number 3 Bagshot Row, Hobbiton, The Shire. Sam took over the tending of the garden at Bag End after his father. Sam was deeply curious about elves, and he was selected by Gandalf to accompany Frodo on his journey to Rivendell. Ever since he first heard of Frodo�s journey, he, together with Merry and Pippin made a plan to join Frodo on his quest. In Rivendell he was, together with the hobbits, selected by Elrond to be in the Fellowship. During their quest Sam was Frodo�s most trustful companion, and he proved his loyality several times over. Without Sam, Frodo�s mission to destroy the Ring would almost definitely have failed. After the War of the Ring he married Rosie Cotton, and he was elected mayor of Michel Delving seven times (first in 3027 III). He and Rosie had 13 children: Elanor, Frodo, Rose, Merry, Pippin, Goldilocks, Hamfast, Daisy, Primrose, Bilbo, Ruby, Robin and Tolman. After Rosie died (in 3082 III) Samwise sailed over the sea as the last of the ringbearers. |
