In 3018 he was made a member of the Fellowship of the Ring. He travelled with the company, and became very close friends with the Elf Legolas, and he was named Elf-friend. In Lothl�rien Gimli was taken by the beauty of Lady Galadriel, and asked if he could have a lock of her hair. He fought at the Battle of the Hornburg and at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. After the war of the Ring, he and Legolas travelled throughout Middle-earth. Then he brought some of his people from Erebor to the Glittering Caves, where he was Lord. He and his people reforged the gates of Gondor in Mithril. It is believed that Legolas took Gimli with him when he sailed west in 120 IV. |
