Quote:

Elrond was the son of Erendil and Elwing, and the brother of Elros. He was born around 525 I, at the Havens of Sirion. His father was of Norldorin blood and his mother was of Sindarin blood, so Elrond belonged to both the Noldor and Sindar branches of elves.
In the battle at the Mouth of Sirion in 534, Elrond and his brother were taken captive by the Fanor. However, Maglor took pity on them and they were reunited with the surviving elves of the battle at Sirion.
Both of Elronds parents were Half-elves and so Elrond had to choose his race. He chose to remain with the elves, whilst his brother chose the race of Men. As Elrond became one of the Eldar, he dwelt for some time with Gil-Galad in Lindon and was counsellor to the High-King.
In 1695 II war broke out. Sauron wanted the Three Elven Rings and to invade Eriador. When Gil-Galad heard news of this he sent an army with Elrond to help Celeborn and the elves in Eriador. Still, it proved useless, as Saurons force was much too strong. Eriador was ruined, and Elrond and the surviving elves retreated into a deep valley. Here, Elrond founded Imladris in 1697.
In 1701 Imladris was almost besieged by Saurons forces, but the Nmenorians came to the shores of Middle-earth just in time to help. Sauron was defeated and he fled back to Mordor.
Elrond fought in the War of the Last Alliance in 3429-3441, and in the final battle of the Last Alliance he stood at the side of Gil-Galad and Elendil. Gil-Galad was slain in the battle, but before he died he passed on Vilya, the Ring of Air, to Elrond. By the aid of one of the Three Elven Rings Imladris continued to be a safe place for the elves, and Elrond remained here for the rest of his stay in Middle-earth.
In 109 III he wedded Celebran, daughter of Galadriel and Celeborn. She bore him the twins Elladan and Elrohir, and in 130 III, a daughter, Arwen. Elrond remained in Imladris with their children after his wife passed over the sea in 2510 III.
Elrond was a leading member of the White Council, and played a great part in many important events in the Third Age. In 2933 Gilraen brought her son, Aragorn II, to Imladris and Elrond raised him as his own son. He also advised Gandalf, Bilbo and the Dwarves on their journey to the Lonely Mountain, and he led the Council of Elrond in 3018 III. Here he gave good advice to the Fellowship before they started their journey from Imladris.          Together with the other Ringbearers he sailed to the Undying Lands on September 29th, 3021 III, leaving Imladris in the care of his twin sons.
