| Denethor II Race: Man of Gondor Date of birth: 2945 III Death: 3019 III Parents: Ecthelion II (father) Height: 5�10 � 6�0 Home: Gondor, Minas Tirith Quote: Denethor II, son of Echtelion II, was born in 2930 III. He grew up watching Sauron regain some of his power, and was well aware of the peril Gondor was in. Denethor married Finduilas, daughter of Adrahil, and they had two sons together, Boromir and Faramir. At the age of fifty-four he became the Steward of Gondor, the title being passed on to him after the death of his father. His wife died at a young age for one of her line, four years after her husband took the Stewardship. Denethor ruled alone for another 30 years, as a grave and serious man. During the War of the Ring it became known that he had used a Palat�r to gain knowledge, but he was influenced by the malice of Sauron. Year by year he became a more desperate man, and when he learned of his oldest son�s death, he no longer saw any hope for the future. When he thought Faramir was dead as well, he went mad and ordered a pyre to be set for himself and Faramir. His son was rescued by Gandalf, but Denethor burned himself to death with the Palant�r in his hands. He had then ruled for 35 years, until his death on March 15, 3019 III. He was the last ruling Steward, but his title as Steward of Gondor was passed on to Faramir. |
