The Toy Box

Chapter Six
In a secluded glade a far distance away from the port/city where Toymaker had had his showdown with Enchanter, Toymaker and Thortan had taken a break from their travels.

"Mind telling me what all that was about?" Thortan asked.

"He was a plainswalker. One of his colors was green. I thought he was the one - or one of the people responsible for the attacks on me as of late. i was mistaken though. The wizard i am dealing with is not in the art of counter magic or manipulation." Toymaker answered.

"And that is what that guy was about?" Thortan asked.

"His name - or how he likes to be called - is the Charming Enchanter. He is a mage that specializes in the art of enchantment - or enchanting people or things. The person or people i am seeking uses minions - and lots of them." he replied as he took out the item he had assembled back in the city.

"What is that?" he asked.

"I really don't know. Right now - it is just a puzzle - a puzzle i must solve." he answered as he put the item away.

"So - what is our next move?" he asked.

"We forgot to pick up some supplies back at that city. We will have to go elsewhere now." he pointed out.

"Because of that Enchanter guy?" he asked.

"Among other reasons. This is where you come in - where do we go from here?" he answered and asked.

"Well, there is a small town a few days west of here. Nothing big mind you." Thortan answered.

"Would they have tools there?" Toymaker asked.

"I would imagine so." he replied.

"That is all that concerns me. Are you able to travel now - or do you need to relax some more?" Toymaker asked.

"Hey, i'm good to go right now if need be. Why the big hurry?" he asked.

"Timing. Each attack that has been made against me has been made within a week of each other. The only reason to explain this is that he needs to find more troops to replace the ones he loses. If at all possible - i would like to find what i need in this place and be off before i am attacked again." he answered seriously.

"Good enough for me." he replied. The two quickly gathered their belongings and headed west.

Two days later - the two were atop a large hill. in the distance - they could see the town Thortan spoke of.

"I'm going to need to rest for a week." Thortan mumbled.

"After i get what i need - you can rest for however long you want - at your own home. Now to..." Toymaker began. Thortan watched as the wizard slowly looked around.

"Problem?" he hesitantly asked.

"He's early." he replied. Thortan was going to ask what he was talking about when a green mist began to form in the valley before them. He listened and heard the sounds of soldiers marching - lots of soldiers. From the mist - several dozen ranks of soldiers began to march out in formation. By their banners and colors - Toymaker recognized them as Benalish.

"That's a lot." Thortan whispered. It was then that a different horn sounded. several dozen more ranks of heroes and soldiers marched out from the mists. Toymaker studied their markings. Although he had little dealing with their culture - he knew them too. They were Kjoranan.

"This - is not good." he muttered. Then the silence was broken by the sound of beating drums. several dozen more ranks of soldiers marched out from the mists. Toymaker shook his head. He had delt with these people in the past - and they were not overly fond of him. They were Icatian.

"There are over three thousand soldiers down there." Thortan muttered.

"I know. Hold still." Toymaker stated. he waved a hand over Thortan. a thin blue translucent robe appeared over his clothes. Seconds later - another appeared on Toymaker.

"What is this thing?" he asked.

"An enchantment of sorts - a mystic veil. It prevents certain things from targeting you. The Icatians have a special little friend that has a nasty habit of being able to kill things he points at. These veils will keep him from pointing at us. It won't protect you from stupidity however. Stay here - i will return after i deal with them." Toymaker warned as he made his way down the hill.

"I hope you know what you are doing." Thortan muttered as he watched the wizard make his way towards the armies down below.
