Spider's web By Richard LeBlanc
Chapter Seven Back within his fortress, Miseorn had just learned of the failed attempt on the spider wizard's life.
"There was no way he should have been able to stop them so fast." he said to himself. he looked into a shard of crystal on the wall and saw how the spider wizard was able to recover from the severed tie to his mana.
"I must be getting careless in my old age. I forgot about the power of the dark rituals. I think that it is time that he learns of the power I myself wield. Up until now - i was holding back - no more. Familiar - to me!" he called out. A white wolf hurried over to the side of his master.
"All of the creatures - that we have collected - that we have kept on ice for a rainy day - well - the storm is about to begin! Through your eyes - i will control - through your mind - i will control. Go forth familiar - find this spider - and let hell on earth for him begin!" he ordered. The wolf nodded and hurried away.
"We shall see who walks away this time." he stated smugly.
Back where Lord Arachnid was - he had overcome the effects of the Armegeddon spell. His power was once again fully restored. He had resumed his journey towards the towerlike fortress of his enemy - but no matter how long he seemed to walk - the tower seemed just as far away.
"This is going to take longer than i thought Nibbles. If i didn't know better - i would almost think that this Miseorn character didn't want to face me." he said to himself. He was going to continue his train of thought when he felt the sensation of being watched. He slowly looked around - there was nothing - nothing except - a wolf?
"We're being watched." he whispered. Nibbles chirped from the hood.
"A familiar? That would make a certain amount of sense. This is going to be messy then." he muttered. Astrong wind began to blow across the tundra. As Lord Arachnid watched - he saw snow blow away from huge mounds that were on the plain before him. His eyes widened - before him were four resting Elder Land Worms.
"Those are pretty big..." he began. It was then that he heard a low rumbling sound coming from below the ground. Just then - a large blue wormlike creature smashed upwards through the ice and ground. Lord Arachnid slowly arched his neck up to see the large mouth that was roaring down at him.
"A Leviathan - you must be joking." he muttered. Just then another one rose up - and then two more.
"Four - even better." he muttered. it was then that the ground behind the blue worms exploded upwards. It was then that the spider wizard saw a beast that almost dwarfed the huge worms - a Polar Kraken!
"Oh - this is going to be so unpleasant." he muttered. Nibbles peeked out from the hood and saw the awsome powerful creatures that were before them.
"This is going to hurt no matter how i do this. Oh well - have to start somehwhere." He muttered. black spirals of power began to spin around him. he closed his eyes and concentrated - the power of the dark ritual began. Then more dark power began to spin around the spider mage. he then pointed at one of the mighty Leviatans. A horrid shriek echoed across the plains as he drained the life out of the creature. within moments he was feeling stronger than ever - and the withered bones of the Leviathan crumbled to the ground. It was then that all of the creatures - save the land worms charged.
"One chance..." he muttered. a thick choking fog swirled outward from the wizard. the giant creatures raced into the fog. Within seconds - the fog cleared. Lord Arachnid was on the ground. When the beasts raced by - he had taken a powerful hit from a rogue tail. had he not drained one of the beasts - he would have perished.
"Round two?" he stated coldly. he cast a terror spell at the mighty Polar Kraken - but the spell fizzled. He studied the monstrous creature and saw that the beast was warded against black.
"Black ward - just perfect. I guess we have to do this a different way." he muttered. he reached into his pouch and pulled out a small vial.
"This is a little potion i concocted from the most potent spider venom known to man. Enjoy!" he shouted. He threw the vial at the giant creature. Just then it shattered in mid air. At first he wasn't sure what had happened - then he remembered the familiar.
"That little dog is trying my patients. Fine then - shall we see if you like a tornado spell?" he asked sarcastically. Green and black energy spiralled around the wizard. dark storm clouds filled the sky. a funnel began to descend towards the Polar Krakaen. Just then - it vanished. Lord Arachnid's spell fizzled out as its target had been unsummoned.
"Okay - you wanted it this way - so be it! I summon you my brothers!" he called out. Hundreds of spiders began to appear from thin air. within seconds an army of hundreds of types of spiders appeared before. He looked at the spiders and pointed at a relatively tiny looking spider.
"Attack the wolf." he instructed. The spider began to scurry across the open plain. The Huge Levathans began to turn to try to block the approaching spider - but they had committed themselves to the attack and would not be able to turn in time. It was then that the four Elder Land Worms came to life.
"Perfect." Lord Arachnid stated with a sweet smile. He emitted four short burst of green power at the tiny spider. The first burst caused the thum sized spider to grow into the size of a horse. The second - the size of an elephant. The third - the size of a dragon. He then channeled a great deal of power into a potent howl from beyond. The dragon sized spider tore into all of the Land Worms - but the combined effort was enough to take the beast down.
"That just leaves you three worms..." he began. Just then - the ground began to rumble again. he looked over his shoulder and saw that the Polar Kraken that had been unsummoned - had returned.
"Oh - this is going to be a long day." he muttered to himself.
