Enchanter's Promise
By Richard LeBlanc

Chapter Eleven

Some unkown amount of time later - Enchanter slowly woke up to find himself on the floor in Wart Fang's lair. He slowly sat up and remembered everything - everything that he had forgotten. He slowly got up and leaned against the wall.

"I forgot...." he muttered as he shook his head in disbelief.

"She saved my life - all she asked in return - was that I not forget her." he added as he walked back over to the table where the scroll and picture was. He looked down on them again.

"I will find you. I will make good on my promise to you Tydiss." he whispered. He then sighed and looked at the remaining pieces of paper. One of them had to have the spell that he would need to escape this wretched place.

"One of them has to hold the spell that opens the gate." he muttered as he quickly opened parchment. He quickly read the document that was written in wet blood. It was a foul spell - so foul that upon reading it to himself he could feel his fingers burn. he dropped the parhment and glared at it.

"Have to be more careful." he muttered as he looked at the black burns on his hands. He opened up another document and carefully examined it. It was the spell that Wart Fang used early in their duel - a prismatic fireball.

"That - could be useful. Might be able to trade it or something." he muttered as he added the spell to his collection. he then looked at the last document that was on the table. He sighed and unfolded it.

"Tricky wizard - no get spell - i take with me - ha-ha - Wart Fang?" he read to himself in disbelief. Enchanter clenched his fists in rage. That damnable troll knew that he was going to die and took the spell with him to trap him here. He was going to scream when a piece of paper floated down from the roof and landed on the table before him.

"What?" he muttered as he looked up. There was nothing there except warped stone. He slowly looked down at the paper and saw the spell that opened and closed the gate to the shadow plane. Something wasn't adding up. He saw the troll burst into flames - how could the spell have survived?

"Ask questions when i am out of this place." he reassured himself as he concentrated on the mana of the foul places near and inside of the lair. black mana spiraled around his hands and caused a black hole to appear on the wall before him. Enchanter looked around the lair and then leaped into the hole.

Just then, Enchanter sat up. He looked around and saw that he was in his bedroom in his castle. He looked at his hands and looked at everything around him. Was it all just a dream? He slowly got up and looked at a folded piece of paper that was stuck to his mirror. Hesitantly he made his way over to the mirror and removed the piece of paper. He unfolded it and read the simple note.

"Don't forget - you promised. Tydiss!" he read with a smile. he quietly laughed and shook his head.

"I won't forget again. I will find you Tydiss - wherever you are." he said to himself as he left his bedroom.

Mere seconds later - after he was gone a woman of mist began to appear from the other side of the mirror.

"Yes - by all means come. I too will be waiting." the mist woman laughed as the image faded from the mirror.
