| Checkmate | ||||||||
| In a corporate high-rise, the president of a large company had finished telling his secretary the true story about how he had amassed his wealth. Raymond sat down in his chair and looked out the window of his office. It had been a secret he had kept for over ten years. The secretary was more than a little confused as to why she was being told this at this time. | ||||||||
| "You might be wondering why I am telling you this today. I am because today is the ten year anniversary of the day I survived that. The day I got all of this blood money." Raymond said in disgust. | ||||||||
| "So what are you going to do? If these people are as connected as you say, what could you possibly do?" she asked curiously. Raymond shook his head. He felt a hundred years old at thirty. He had accomplished what millions desired - money - power - status - but it did him little good to him. Not for the price he paid. | ||||||||
| "I am going to go to the police and confess my crimes...I don't care if they get anyone else...at least I will be true to my conscience." He muttered sadly. The secretary sighed and looked over at the president. | ||||||||
| "If that is how you feel...I guess this is the last time we will be together." She stated quietly. Raymond stood up and faced the window. | ||||||||
| "I'm afraid so." He replied. The secretary reached into her purse and pulled out a small gun. She aimed it at his back. | ||||||||
| "So am I...white pawn takes Black King - Checkmate!" she shouted. She shot Raymond in the back. The secretary walked over to the phone and dialed a long distance number. | ||||||||
| "Hello? Marty? This Jeena. I'm afraid you were right. Send a clean up crew to cover this up." She requested. Jeena then calmly put the gun back into her purse and walked away from the former Black King's office. | ||||||||
