Part six: factions
By Richard LeBlanc
In the Warzone - the Brujah Glitter was partaking in a local Brujah gathering. Some were going on about their weapons - some were busy fighting - Glitter was gliding through the crowd stealing what knowledge she could without speaking to any. Unfortunately - the knowledge she was gaining was worth precious little.
"Hey pretty lady," a voice stated - getting her undivided attention. "You must be new around here - because I definitely would have remembered seeing you before," he added. Glitter politely smiled and wanted to shoot the moron's head clean off - but resisted the urge. She merely leaned against the dented light post behind her and looked around - unamused at the goings on.
"Original material - I've never heard that one before," she retorted.
"You have something better?" he retorted.
"I don't give for free. I'm not the easy type anymore," she replied seriously.
"Fair enough. What's your game?" he asked.
"I'm looking for someone - for a friend of mine," she added.
"A friend - right," he replied unbelieving.
"A sort of local celebrity - I'm sure you must have heard of him," she continued - unzipping her leather jacket a bit to expose some of her cleavage. He smiled at what he saw and looked around.
"I know a lot of famous people baby," he commented. Before he could say another word - he heard the safety of a pistol disengage and felt the barrel of a gun against his head. His eyes looked over and saw Glitter glaring at him.
"Tell me something worth while," she suggested.
"You'd play me like that?" he asked curiously.
"And I would lose no sleep about it. I am looking for a lunatic - guess who I am seeking," she added seriously. The Brujah stepped away from her and quietly laughed.
"You want to talk to the man," he stated.
"Who?" she asked coyly.
"Skamms?" he asked. She smiled and put her gun away.
"Intelligence is so attractive - impress me by showing me how smart you are - and I will give you a hit of something unlike anything - you have ever - tasted - before," she seductively requested.
"What do you got in mind?" he asked seriously. Glitter closed her eyes, reached between her boobs and pulled out a small vial with a yellowish liquid in it.
"A friend of mine is a chemist - brews all sorts of interesting things. One taste of this - and you will see god," she stated as she held the vial before him. He began to reach for it - but she jerked it away.
"See god? As in die?" he asked curiously.
"Silly boy - what point would there be in killing you - when alive - you could be so useful to me," she stated seductively as she walked around him - studying him as a jeweler would a precious stone.
"What is it?" he asked. She walked over and extended the vial to him.
"My chemist friend - calls it Thunder. One taste - and it will blow you away," she replied.
"How much?" he asked curiously.
"Hmm. For a stud-muffin like you - information - how much of a following does this Skamms person have?" she asked.
"Was a time when he was top dog - if said move - no one stood still. He still has a bunch of people that do things for him and the other way around. If I had to guess - maybe a hundred or so - give or take," he replied.
"A hundred - interesting. I have heard many rumors floating around here about him - any of them true?" she asked curiously. The Brujah studied the vial and then looked over at her.
"My people say that he started all the rumors - making a misinformation network or something like that," he replied. Glitter smiled and placed her hand on the Brujah's chest. He looked at her and saw her staring back.
"One more - where - could someone find this man?" she asked. The Brujah looked away for a moment and then smirked. Glitter was unsure and looked over in the direction he had looked.
"That's him over there," he stated.
"The - shorter one?" she asked hesitantly.
"He may not look like much - but that's him. Word to the wise sweet-cheeks - don't piss him off. Even if you are a hot little number like you - he would as soon blow you away as talk to you," he replied as he began to walk away.
"Noted," she stated as she looked over at the man that was talking to a small gang of bikers. She looked around and tried to see if she could spot her companion.
"Looking for someone?" a familiar voice stated. She looked over her shoulder and saw Raven smirking.
"I thought I told you to guard Thor," she retorted.
"I was. He stopped praying and went to talk to Dreven. Most likely about the pretender. Find out anything useful? Or were you just trying to hook some new customers?" he asked. She glared at him and turned away.
"I do not answer to you - and having a Toreador like you here - will discredit me. Get lost. I have a job to do here - and you will only make it difficult," she stated crossly. Unaware to them - their argument had gotten the attention of Skamms and the bikers.
"As you do not answer to me - I do not answer to you," he retorted. She smirked.
"Remember where you are fool. One word from me - and you will be a memory," she stated. Raven stepped forward and looked down at the provocatively dressed Brujah.
"Is there a problem?" a voice asked. The two looked over and saw Skamms and a few bikers standing a few feet away from them.
"Private matter - back off," Raven retorted. Skamms did a sharp whistle. Almost all activity around the area stopped and all eyes were on them. Before he could say another word - Glitter was standing between him and Skamms.
"He is nothing more than a momentary lapse in my judgement. A former fling - he just doesn't take rejection very well. Go - home," she stated calmly to him. He looked at her for a moment and then looked over at Skamms that was glaring at him.
"I suggest you do as the lady says - otherwise - I might have to get serious," he stated.
"That supposed to scare me?" Raven asked.
"No - not in the slightest," Skamms retorted. He looked around at the dozens of Brujah that were now watching them. "Leave now flower power - last chance I'm going to give you," he added.
"What makes you think I fear you?" Raven asked - in a blur of motion - a sword was drawn. Skamms smiled and shook his head.
"Youth - or is it stupidity? Have you not ever heard of the proverb - you know - the one about bringing - a knife - to a gun fight?" he asked. Before Raven could think of a witty comeback - he heard the sounds of dozens of guns being drawn and aimed at him.
"Hiding behind them?" Raven asked lowly. Skamms smirked and motioned for Glitter to step away from the Toreador.
"You are lucky I am here on business boy - or you would be in a shit load of pain for trying to get a rise out of me. This is a place for Brujah - you are not welcome here - leave now," he warned. Glitter stared at him and subtly motioned for him to get lost.
"This is far from over," Raven stated as he sheathed his blade and hurried away.
"Give him ten seconds - then happy hunting," Skamms stated - many laughed - and the rest resumed what they were doing before.
"Thank you - some people," she stated politely.
"Think nothing of it," he replied.
"I was wondering if there was - someplace - private - where I could properly thank you?" she asked seductively. Skamms quietly laughed and looked at the woman before him.
"Nice to be appreciated. Follow me," he suggested. Glitter held onto his arm and walked with him through the street.
"You were right - about this being a place for Brujah - but why are you here? You aren't Brujah," she pointed out. Skamms looked over at her and smiled.
"I - was invited. Besides - I have business that needed to be taken care of here," he replied calmly.
"What business would that be?" she asked.
"Something - involving - you - and me - interested?" he replied and asked.
"Very," she answered. The two entered an abandoned apartment building - stepping over the homeless people that were passed out in the halls. Skamms lightly knocked on one door and within a few seconds - it opened.
"Need the room - scoot," he stated calmly. The man looked at him for a moment and then nodded. He closed the door.
"You know him?" she asked.
"Nope," he replied. Just then the door opened. The man handed Skamms the keys and made his way down the hall. "After you," he stated. Glitter smiled and entered the run down apartment. Skamms entered and locked the door behind him.
"So - what's your perversion?" she asked coyly. She removed her jacket to reveal a very tiny halter top. Skamms sat down by the window and smiled at the woman that was standing a few feet away.
"Many things," he began calmly. Just then a low feral growl began to resonate in the room. Glitter slowly looked over at Skamms and saw him on the brink of frenzy. "But my biggest perversion - is being hunted," he hissed.
To be continued...
