General Notes:
The part that we are discussing will be placed between brackets (colored).

Section 1: Officers

Example : 100,C,30,Longstreet,S,"Old Pete" 41 years old

1: (100),C,30,Longstreet,S,"Old Pete" 41 years old

The number indicates which corps or division the officer belongs too. x00 stands for a corps commander where x stands for the number of the corps which in this case is the 1st corp.

(110),C,30,McLaws,E,41 years old

In this case it means that the officer is a division commander. Division commanders are indicated with xx0 where the first x stands for the corps, and the second x stands for the division. McLaws is the commander of the 1st division of the 1st corps.

(111),C,30,Kershaw,E,"SC Brigade" McLaws' Division

In this case it means that the officer is a brigade commander. Brigade commanders are indicated with xxx where the first x stands for the corps, and the second x stands for the division, and finally the third x stands for the brigade.
Kershaw is the commander of the first brigade, of the first division, of the first corps.

2: 100,(C),30,Longstreet,S,"Old Pete" 41 years old

C stands for Commander and is used for all commanders.
Note : cavalry uses a c (small c) while commanders have a C (big C).

3: 100,C,(30),Longstreet,S,"Old Pete" 41 years old

30 means, well I don't know, but its used for all commanders.

4: 100,C,30,(Longstreet),S,"Old Pete" 41 years old

Here is where you type the original name of the commander.

5: 100,C,30,Longstreet,(S),"Old Pete" 41 years old

This stands for the quality of the commander.

Quality Codes: (Worst to Best)

G - Mediocre
R - Competent
V - Experienced
E - Superb
S - Legendary

6: 100,C,30,Longstreet,S,("Old Pete" 41 years old)

Here you type the nickname of the commander, and his age or any other comment.

Section 2: Infantry

Example : 112,i,124,16th Ga,V,x,"Sallie Twiggs Regt",

1: (112),i,124,16th Ga,V,x,"Sallie Twiggs Regt",

The number indicates the brigade this regiment is in, it always carries the same number as its brigade commander.

2: 112,(i),124,16th Ga,V,x,"Sallie Twiggs Regt",

The 'i' stands for Infantry and should always be used in case of infantry.

3: 112,i,(124),16th Ga,V,x,"Sallie Twiggs Regt",

Here you type the amount of men the regiment has. 124 just means this regiment has 124 men so it could also be 500 or larger. (Limit around 1000)

4: 112,i,124,(16th Ga),V,x,"Sallie Twiggs Regt",

Here you type the official name of the regiment. Note : this is not the nickname.

5: 112,i,124,16th Ga,(V),x,"Sallie Twiggs Regt",

This stands for the quality of the regiment.

Quality Codes: (Worst to Best)

G - Green
R - Trained
V - Veteran
E - Crack
S - Elite

6: 112,i,124,16th Ga,V,(x),"Sallie Twiggs Regt",

This indicates the uniforms the regiment wears (see codes below)

Confederate Uniforms
N1 - cN1.pcx files (Butternut uniform with black hats)
N2 - cN2.pcx files (Butternut jacket, blue pants, black hat)
N3 - cN3.pcx files (Gray jacket, gray pants, brown hat)
N4 - cN4.pcx files (Dark gray jacket, white pants, dark gray hat)
N5 - cN5.pcx files (Gray jacked, gray pants, gray cap)
N6 - cN6.pcx files (Another version of the butternut uniform with black hats)
LT - cLT.pcx files (Hays' Zouaves, red butternut frock coat, red tuque, and white pants)

x - A mixture of N1 to N6 above.

Federal Uniforms
BP - uBP.pcx files (Dark blue frock coat, light blue pants, blue cap, light gray pack)
TR - uTR.pcx files (Similar to BP but without packs and have a blanket rolled across chest)
Fe - uFE.pcx files (Iron Brigade, blue frock coat, light blue pants, black hat)
S - uSS.pcx files (Sharpshooters, green frock coat, green pants, green cap, light brown pack)
I - uI.pcx files (Irish - Blue jacket, Green distinctions, white pants, blue cap)
Z1 - uZ1.pcx files (Zouaves, blue and red coats, red pants, red tuque)
Z2 - uZ2.pcx files (Zouaves, blue and red coats, blue pants, red tuque)
x or blank - umarch, ustand & urun

All codes can be used by either side. These (except x) will give the uniform even though it is supposed to be for the other side. This can be used, for example, in a new battle pack where you wish to use a specific uniform for confederate cavalry when they dismount which is not suitable to be included in the mix option and still use zouaves. To do this, save the uniform as say uSSmarch etc, and use the "S" code in obc.txt for the cavalry (& don't use the "S" code for union troops).
Another example would be if you have a union uniform which is also suitable to be used in a confederate mix. One of the cNX set of files can be used, it would be referred to specifically for union troops i.e. as code "N1" and be used by confederates who have the "x" code.

7: 112,i,124,16th Ga,V,x,("Sallie Twiggs Regt"),

This is the unit's nickname or further information, or the brigade name can be entered here.

Section 3: Cavalry

This is exactly the same as in Gettysburg. (Gettysburg Help TBA)

Section 4: Artillery

Example : 115,X,62,Manley,V,6,Z,Ellis Light Art (NC),

1: (115),X,62,Manley,V,6,Z,Ellis Light Art (NC),

This is the number of the battery in its division or corps.

2: 115,(X),62,Manley,V,6,Z,Ellis Light Art (NC),

This gives the color of the barrel and the basic effectiveness at different ranges. 6 codes work. In approximate order of effectiveness they are:

P - iron barrel
R - iron barrel
a - bronze barrel
A - bronze barrel
r - bronze barrel
X - bronze barrel
Codes O, H, N, p & x do not work (a battery does not appear). The bronze barrel is the one included in Cn1, Cn2 & Cn3 or Un1, Un2 & Un3.pcx. The iron barrel is overlayed on this from Cr1, Cr2 & Cr3 or Ur1, Ur2 & Ur3.pcx.

The combinations used with 7. below in Antietam are:
P - 20lb. Parrotts, 32-lb Howitzers
R - 10lb. Parrotts, 3in. Ordnance, 10lb. James Guns & Mixed Battery.
r - 12lb. Napoleons
X - Mixed Battery & 6lb. Smoothbores

3: 115,X,(62),Manley,V,6,Z,Ellis Light Art (NC),

The number of men.
This gives the hitting power of the battery rather than the number of guns at 6. below and is scaled to give the number of gun models that are displayed for the battery. The following table from SMG can be used as a guide:

1-29 men = 1 gun (which appears with a minimum of 20 men and is destroyed when it falls below 20)
30-49 men = 2 guns
50-69 men = 3 guns
70-89 men = 4 guns
90-109 men = 5 guns
110-129 men = 6 guns
130-149 men = 7 guns

4: 115,X,62,(Manley),V,6,Z,Ellis Light Art (NC),

This is the name of the officer who's in charge of this battery.

5: 115,X,62,Manley,(V),6,Z,Ellis Light Art (NC),

This gives the morale of the battery and the number of morale blocks it has.

Quality Codes: (Worst to Best)

G - Green
R - Trained
V - Veteran
E - Crack
S - Elite

6: 115,X,62,Manley,V,(6),Z,Ellis Light Art (NC),

This number is displayed as the number of guns in the battery.
In this case there are 6 guns.

7: 115,X,62,Manley,V,6,(Z),Ellis Light Art (NC),

This is the specific type of gun that the battery carries. Note: It should match together with step 2 in this section.

N - Napoleons
S - 6lb. Smoothbores
A - 10lb. James Guns
R - 10lb. Parrotts
P - 20lb. Parrotts
O - 3in. Ordnance
H - 32lb. Howitzers
Z - Mixed Battery (of rifles or rifles & smoothbores)

8: 115,X,62,Manley,V,6,Z,(Ellis Light Art (NC)),

This is the official name of the battery. Usually behind the name, between brackets it says the state the battery is from, or a nickname.

Well, that's it. Don't forget to look at the original Order of Battles. You might want to mess around with the originals, change names and numbers first, and work your way up.

Good Luck!!!
