| Born in Belfast, Betty was raised in Greenisland on the shores of Belfast Lough. On leaving grammar school, she went to Stranmillis College for teacher training and then started teaching in the Old Park Road School in Belfast. She has been on numerous working parties relating to various aspects of education and has been on a Government Task Force. She has also been involved in community relations work for over thirty years, and in 2001 became a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen�s NewYear�s Honours List. Betty is now Principal of Edenbrooke Primary School, Tennent Street, Belfast. |
