Adrian Rice visited the parent's Group at Edenbrook.  He shared his background, stories and poetry.

He talked about his book "The Mason's Tongue" and how he got interested in writing poetry.

He shared "I am" poems written by their children and ended the workshop with getting the parents to write an "I am" poem about themselves.
Principal Betty Orr
then had the poems
spiral-bound into a gift
to showcase their creative works.
I AM

I am a single father.
I wonder how I can cope.
I hear children laughing.
I see a lot of hope.
I want just to be happy in life.
I am a single father.

I pretend not to bothered.
I feel my head is ready to explode.
I touch the hot sand in my dreams.
I worry I'm not doing my best.
I cry at the thought of losing my kids.
I am a single father.

I understand what people say, "I'm doing OK"
I say I don't know everything.
I dream of a perfect family life.
I try to be the best for my kids.
I hope everything works out.
I am a single father.

I AM

I am kind & friendly.
I wonder will I ever be rich.
I hear rumbling in the night.
I see the stars talking to the moon.
I want happiness.
I am kind & friendly.

I pretend to always know best.
I feel like running to the hills sometimes.
I touch the clouds in the sky.
I worry about life and my family.
I cry on my own.
I am kind & friendly.
I understand right from wrong.
I say go for it and don't hold back.
I dream of a better life for me & my kids
I try to do my best with life.
I hope that my kids will stay healthy.
I am kind & friendly.

Edenbrooke Primary School has a family project, which encourages parents to get more involved in the education of their children.  The project offers good childcare for parents who want to participate in a range of courses, such as computers, parenting, health, cooking and arts & crafts.
