2130 HRS: It's been a long day. We gave up on reaching Rubicon Springs quite a while back, after referencing our maps several times and realizing that we didn't really make it all that far. Frustration was high. Some people felt like they were spending more time on their skid plates and frame rails than their tires. Our sense of humor hadn't died yet though, and everyone in the group took part in coming up with new slogans for the trail (most of which can't be put on a website that kids might stumble across). We ended up setting up camp in the dark in a spot not too far from Little Sluice where someone else had already dug in some fire pits. Due to the fire danger, we skipped the camp fire and relied on our flashlights. Everyone hit the sack pretty quick...
