| SUPER GOALIE AND THE HALLOWEEN TREAT! By Netty |
| On a dark and stormy night, Super Goalie was sitting in his mansion surrounded by silence! All at once he heard a THUMP THUMP THUMP on his door. Now who could that be he thought to himself? He strolled over to the door and there stood his arch rival Patty. Patty was drenched from the rain and he looked a mess. " Hi Patty I see you finally escaped the blue sharpie circle " SG said with a smile. "Yes you had me trapped there for days you...you...sacre bleu can I please come in from the cold?" Patty snarled. "Sure Patty come on in, but you have to leave all your weapons outside ok? Oh wait a second I forgot you used them all early in your career. So what brings you to my neck of the woods Patty? In the need of some humility again?" Our hero was not really comfortable with the evil Patty Wah on his doorstep but as he had a HUGE heart he felt sorry for the drenched loser. "I am here on a mission Super Goalie!" Wah said with his evil grin. "Mission? What mission? Exactly what are you up to Patty?" Super Goalie knew it had to be something as it always was with Patty. "It is Halloween Super Goalie! I do not understand. What is it all about? Why are there ghosties and witches and ghools running around the streets tonight? I have to tell you I am somewhat afraid of the competition. I was hoping as one goaltender to another you could explain this to me please.". Wah seemed genuinely terrified he might actually have a match up besides the incredible Super Goalie. "Well Patty you see one night a year there is a special hockey game. All the people gather up their best disguises and come and play for mock Stanleys. It is all in fun ya know and hey I am surprized you did not know about it. Most of us receive an invitation." Super Goalie knew he should feel guilty for this but did not because of the nature of the beast called Wah. "You mean they have this this game and they do not bother to invite me, the greatest most winningest goaltender in the world?" Patty seemed very incensed at the oversight. "Well Patty it must have been an error. Tell ya what. You can take my place if you want. I have already won the real Stanley Cup. Mock ones are really of no interest to me. Tell ya what why don't you go get yourself dried up and meet me at the rink and you can take the shots in my place. How is that?" Super Goalie thought of the humor in Wah taking his place in anything. "Why thank you Super Goalie! That is very kind of you especially after all we have been through. I will do you proud I assure you!" Patty was all smiles now. "Yeah sure Patty whatever, just get yourself ready and meet me at the rink in an hour ok? I'll let everyone know where the game is." Super Goalie knew what he was up to and Patty was in for a trick...or was it a treat well it was definately going to be a treat for all of Patty's enemies anyway. "OK Super Goalie I will be there." Patty turned and left as quickly as his hopes of ever beating Super Goalie in the Western Conference Finals. "Hmm, not much time." Super Goalie thought to himself. "Gotta get everything ready for "the game" and for Patty's "surprize" Super Goalie began preparing for the nights festivities. He made his phone calls, ordered his needed supplies and headed over to the rink in his Viper which was all decked out for Halloween. Having seen that Wah had donned SG's doorstep a large group of SG fans followed him to the rink. When he arrived he was met by cheers of "Ed-die's better, Ed-die's better" and he stopped and signed autogrpahs for them as he had always been fan friendly. Super Goalie then spied his other cohorts. "Hey there guys, over here!" Up walked the entire roster of the beloved by all Dallas Stars. And they were all dressed like their beloved goalie Ed Belfour. Each had a home jersey on with the #20 and each was wearing goalie pads. Each donned a helmet that had the ornate and lovely eagle on each side. Carman Racing donned the back of each helmet and the Make A Wish emblem was securly in place on their chin. And the piece de la resistance was the image of Eddie on each face by way of a mask each donned proudly. "Hey you guys look great if I do say so myself!" SG chuckled. "Patty will just love this!" He quickly huddled the team back in the home dressing room and went in search of the "Evil One". He spotted Patty sneaking into the back door. "Hey Patty! Over here!" SG called out. "Super Goalie! Shhhhh! That crowd is armed with vegetables!" Patty was shaking as he came over to SG. "You ok Patty?" SG inquired "Yes but can we please go in I am freezing and I am ready to play some 'ockey!" Patty said. "Sure Patty! Come on inside where it is cold and we will set you all up." SG knew his plan was going to work because he could see the self importance shining in the demented goalies eyes. He led Patty in and took him to the visitors room. "OK Patty you get ready and I will let everyone know that our guest of honor has arrived!" Super Goalie made his way to the home team dressing room. "Hey guys. Our um....friend has arrived. You all know what to do so lets have some fun eh?" The team all followed SG to the rink. OK you guys. Wait here and I will go and fetch the guest of honor or should I say intended victim!" Super Goalie returned to the visitors room to find Wah primping in front of a mirror. "Hey Patty, hang it up! You will still be ugly no matter what ya do." "How is it they say... Bite me Super Goalie. For I am in goal today not you! I shall be the victor, Not you!" The anger stood out in the evil ones eyes. "Hey Patty lighten up. And then again to the victor goes the spoils." SG was grinning from ear to ear as he led Wah down the hallway. He paused right beofre he went in. "Um Patty, One second I almost forgot. You need to wear this. It is part of the game on Halloween!" Super Goalie placed a blindfold on Patty's eyes and he fastened it down tight. "There that's it!" said our hero. "But Super Goalie. I cannot see a thing. How will I tend my net?" Wah seemed a bit confused by it all. "Not to worry Patty. It will come off soon and I will lead you to the net. Trust me." Super Goalie had an ornery gleam in his eyes. He led Wah to the net and signaled the team to be ready. He removed the blindfold and Wah screamed in horror! "Sacre Bleau! There must be a thousand of him!" Wah was cowering now. "What is this about Super Goalie? Why are they all dressed like him?" "Well Patty you see, you asked me about Halloweeen and I am showing you. You have been tricked and it will be a treat to watch you!" Super Goalie skated to the bench to watch the festivities. First Eddie/Mike shot on Wah, then Eddie/Jere and Eddie/Joe soon followed. Wah started blocking the shots as best he could but his net soon filled with pucks and he soon was covered in bruises. "STOP!" Wah screamed. He skated over to Super Goalie. "What will make them stop?" he asked the now in tears from laughter super hero. Well Patty all you have to do is this." He whispered in Wah's ear a phrase and said "Now each Eddie will take one more shot. You say the phrase after each shot until we come to the end of the line and I will make them stop. Deal?" Wah's face turned a pale shade of Dallas Stars green. He knew he had no other choice. He made his way back to the net and awaited his fate. Each Eddie stood up to the blue line and took a shot. After each shot Wah mumbled "Eddie's Better." They went through the entire line up and the crowd joined in with each shot taken. Eventually the crowd was louder than Wah. The final Eddie came up to the line and said "Ok you jerk. One more shot and one more time and this game will be won." The Eddie skated quickly up to the line and fired away with the puck. It hit Wah in the um....well.....nevermiond where. But the evil goaltender screamed in pain "Eddie's better! The final Eddie skated up to the now writhing Patty Wah. Wah looked up at him with tear filled eyes. The Eddie took off his helmet yet the mask remained. Or was it really a mask? He looked right at Patty with those steel blue eyes and said "Yeah baby yeah and don't you forget it!" The crowd roared amd the team of Eddies all skated around the evil Patty Wah. They skated past him and out the door to the Halloween party that awaited them. Super Goalie (ah hem he can change very fast cos he is super) skated up to Wah. "Patty" he said, "After all we have been through I have to tell you that you leave me a bit speechless. Why didn't you leave the net and avoid the shots? No one was going to stop you. Instead you let your foolish pride and over rated self love stand in the way of your own safety." "Unbelieveable!" Super Goalie exclaimed. Wah slumped to the ice in misery. "Ah c'mon Patty. Let me buy you a drink. No harn no foul, well maybe a little foul where you are concerned." Super Goalie helped Patty up and they went to the party and had a blast. The moral of the story: Well there isn't one. Just have a safe and Happy Halloween! Or is there a moral after all? Could it be that one should think before letting their pride and their self indulgence get in the way of their own personal safety? Hmmmmmm Let me think. I'll get back to ya on that one. Got a Halloween party to head to at Super Goalies. Tune in next time for his continuing adventures! |
