Honda began business as a manufacturer of engines to power bicycles in 1948. Today the company maintains more than 100 manufacturing plants with approximately 120 000 employees, who produce 10 million products annually. Honda has research and development facilities and sales networks operating in four regions: The Americas, Europe, Asia Oceania and Japan. The Honda Motor Co Ltd., is one of today`s leading manufacturers of motorcycles in the world.

Approximately 11.5 million engines were sold world wide during the fiscal year ending March 31, 2001. The Honda Motor Co comprises of 434 subsidiaries and affilities and 118 production facilities in 31 countries. Honda produces scooters, off-road and sports bikes and large touring bikes. As a car manufacturer Honda produced over two million sports cars, compact cars, sedans and recreational vehicles.

Honda first began producing power products in 1953 with the release of engines for agricultural use, an offshoot of motorcycle and automobile development. Honda`s current portfolio includes power tillers, outboard and marine engines, electronic generators and lawn mowers. In 1997 Honda produced its  30th million power product.

Honda has won in every for of motor sport that it competes in from Formula One, Cart Racing, the FIM World Grand Prix`s, FIM Superbike Championships, FIM Individual Motorcross Championships and the FIM World Trials Championships,
