| Race 10 Another bad day for me. I crashed out in Turn 7 during practice and destroyed the collar on my DG pipe. After one lap during the heat and main events it would pop off my ysr's cylinder. Due to the nature of two-stroke engines, it requires the 'sonic' noise the engine makes to create power. (see below) Try running your engine without a pipe. It makes a high popping noise. I even tried spring loading the pipe to the cylinder, but it still came off. My bike lost so much power that I rode around alone in the back hoping someone would crash out so I could take his spot. Everyone stayed on two wheels and I ended up in last place. DOH. | ||||||

| For the most part I had a fun time this year and learned a lot. I finished 9th overall in Novice Supersport of 28 participants throughout the 2001 season. Although I was not a consistant finisher, I managed to finish in 9th because I attended most of the races. What I enjoyed most were the people who watched and raced at Prarie City. Newbies apply ASAP!!!!!! Next year will be different. I will apply what I've learned this season in 2002. I'll find some trick go fast YSR parts and road test them. My bike of course is still titled and I will have my street stuff off-season. Lucky for me I live near some twisty back country roads. Though it's not long enough for someone on a street bike to get his thrills on, it is perfect for a 50cc screaming two-stroke. Ask me and I can tell you where it is if you are in the area with your YSR. |
