Vol. 7, Number 1 March 2000
Oddfellows/Rebekah Fund Raiser set for March 18 The Rebekah’s and Oddfellows are hosting a benefit soup and sandwich dinner to support the Lodge and its charities for the coming year. The menu will be cheese soup and chili, with sandwiches, drink and cake for a donation of $5.00. Members are asked to help by selling the tickets prior to the 18th so that an idea of how many will be coming to the event can be determined. Tickets are available from Ed Cookson at 543-3837 or Jack Shipman at 578-2281 or Ruth Goad at 578-3060, members are reminded to tell the purchasers of the tickets to bring it with them on the 18th of March as that is the only way we will know they donated for the meal. Turn in all money to Ed Cookson when ever possible and those who sell tickets need to keep track of how much they collect and tell one of the above people how much you collected so a count can be made of people expected at the dinner. The meal will be served from 4pm until 7pm at the Lodge hall at 109 E. Illinois.
Villa Grove Lodge 924 combines
with Arthur Lodge 742. A big welcome to the members of Lodge 924 who have made the
transfer to our Lodge. All the
paper work was finished this February and we have already transferred the
records and assets of Lodge 924. We
want to reassure our newest members that the city of Villa Grove will be an
integral part of our various charities that go to the support of our Lodge’s
area of responsibility. One of the
first programs involves the providing of D.A.R.E. program t-shirts to the school
children of the Villa Grove school system for the year 2000.
Other charitable initiatives can be discussed at our Lodge meetings every
first and third Wednesday of the month, at 7:30pm at 109 E. Illinois (upstairs),
across the street from the Dutch Oven restaurant.
