Other Stuff
I welcome the chance to discuss anything about the team, my approach to managing it, or your child with you.  If something's on your mind, let me know.  The only caveat is that immediately before or after a game generally isnt a good time to do that.

Locker Room Etiquette and Expectations
Players:  Use of locker rooms is a privilege, not a right.  Players will be responsible for any acts of vandalism.  Also, locker rooms should be left at least as neat and clean as they were when we arrived.  Discarded tape should be put in trash cans and is your responsiblity, not the coaches.

Parents and Family: in general, males (including coaches) should stay out of the locker room prior to practices and games.  Since well-tied skates are so important, I have no problem if players want parental help in getting them tied, particularly for games.

Players are expected to be adequately prepared so coaches can be in the locker room for the last 10 minutes prior to a practice and the last 15 minutes prior to a game.  Players arrivng late must understand this.  (Over the course of the year, 2nd year Pee Wees ought to be able to tie their own skates, and even most first years should be able to do so by the end of the season.)  In general, I'd like to keep the last 10 minutes before a game as locker room time for just the coaches and the players.  This is the only real off-ice time we get to work with the team.

Practices
I know life happens and players and families have conflicts from time to time.  Thats fine. If you cannot make a scheduled practice, I appreciate having advance notice so I can plan accordingly.  Im not going to get too hung up on this but players that dont come regularly to practice dont make as much progress and they are not doing their part for their teammates.

The schedules are posted on the Comets website.  They can change so recheck them from time to time.  I will send out a schedule periodically as well.   We get 50 minutes of ice time which goes by quickly so please have your player at the rink in time for her to be ready to go on the ice as soon as its available.  In general arriving 25-30 minutes before practice is good.

Games
Please have your player at the rink 35-40 minutes before game time so we have time in the locker room, after everyone is ready, to discuss hockey stuff.

For games, well make up lines and position assignments based on the interests of the players, the judgment of the coaches, and the needs of the team as a whole.  Participation at practices is also a factor.  We wont have penalty killing or power play units.  Winning and losing are secondary to playing our best at all times.  When we do that, the record usually takes care of itself.
