Opening the Season:
EDCO vs. RISD
by Jaimie J.
The EDCO Eagles traveled to Providence, Rhode Island, to play the RISD Roosters for the first time in both schools history.  The EDCO Eagles starting lineup was Andy K. at Point Guard, Jimmy H. at Shooting Guard, Rashaad L. at Small Forward, Peter H. at Power Forward, and Jaimie J. at Center.  At 3:00, the game was tipped off and underway.  The RISD Roosters made good plays and were scoring, while the Eagles struggled to keep up.  With about 6:34 left in the half, with the score 27-12 Roosters, the Roosters subbed their bench players, giving an advantage to the Eagles, and a chance to try and catch up.  By the end of the first half, the EDCO Eagles managed to get their groove on and come close.  With the hard work of Jaimie J. and Peter H. rebounding and scoring in the paint, and Andy K. raining threes, the Eagles were able to catch up 32-29.
As the second half came around, the Eagles were fighting for the lead.  They managed to get a 4-point lead but that didnt last long.  RISD Roosters called a timeout and the coach put in all of his starting players back on the court.  Now things became harder for the Eagles as the Roosters kept piling up points.  At the last few seconds, the Eagles began trying to shoot threes and fouling the Roosters, hoping they would miss all of their free throws so the Eagles could get the ball back.  The plan didnt work as well as expected.  The Roosters wasted the rest of the time on the clock and the buzzer went off.  The RISD Roosters defeated the EDCO Eagles 55-52.
Rumble in the Jungle:
EDCO vs. Horace Mann
by Jaimie J.
The EDCO Eagles traveled to Boston, MA, to play against Horace Mann.  As the Eagles arrived at the gym, they went into locker room, changed into their uniforms and back out to start warming up.  At about 3:30, the ball was tipped off.  The Eagles had a steady lead but then gave up points to Horace Mann.  The Eagles Power Forward, Jaimie J., made five points in less than a minute.  Andy K., the Eagles Point Guard, laid up a few shots.  Jonathan B., the Eagles Center, laid up a few shots too.  Things went well for the Eagles for the rest of the first half.
In the second half, the Eagles kept up the good work, but it didnt last long.  With 6:00 left in the half, Horace Mann was leading 32-30.  The whole team made good efforts.  Jaimie J. and Jonathan B. were blocking their shots, Rashaad L. shot a three-pointer, and Andy K. made most of his freethrows.  Also, Peter H. was grabbing rebounds and Jaimie J. made a few big steals, reading the defense of the Horace Mann players well.  Stephen T. played good defense.  Janay M. made a few good assists and a great job by Jimmy H., making good passes through the wall of players on the defense.  After that, the Eagles started going downhill when they started passing to the wrong people, fouling when they werent supposed to, air balling the shot, and turning the ball over.  We started giving fouls to Horace Mann, so they had to shoot the ball.  Most of their shots went in.  In the final minute, the Eagles tried numerous times to shoot threes, but they all missed.  Horace Mann won the game 42-32.  EDCO will get a chance for revenge when they are scheduled for a rematch on February 6th.
