Okay, I’m not a household name, but I’ve spent years as a journalist and editor and I DO have a few published stories (I’ll post a few soon).

This is to be a free exchange of ideas, not an ego-fest. If you don’t like a certain genre, then please don’t comment on those stories -- if you don’t like it, you can’t be fair. If you don’t like a specific person, ditto.

I ask that posters obey three rules for critiques:

Rule one: No snobs.
Rule Two: Be honest.
Rule Three: If you’re going to be honest, be gentle.

A few hard lessons learned: Be clear in your critiques. If you like a story don’t just say it was good. Explain why it was good. Were the characters strong? Did you like the pace of the writing? Ditto for complaints. “I hated this story” doesn’t get it. What did you not like? The dialogue? The pacing? The flow? Be specific!

I will do my best to include tips, tricks and hints as much as possible. If I get a wide enough response, we can start doing exercises and/or assignments.
