Last Chance
Chapter 1
"You don't believe me do you? Amara, are you still there?"
Amara stared at a picture taped on her wall. It was of her and Alan, her now ex-boyfriend. Sighing she ripped it down.
   "Yes I'm here."
"So? Are you going to say anything?" He asked impatiently.
"Alan, I'm tired and sort of hungry," she lied, "do whatever you want. I don't care anymore." And with that she hung up.
She leaned her head back against the refrigerator. "Jerk."  Alan had called over and hour ago to tell her he had to move back in with his ex-girlfriend. When she questioned him on why, he ran around it until he finally gave some stupid excuse about her getting into some trouble and needing his help. He expected her to believe that; she proved him otherwise.
She moved into the living room and sat down on the couch, turning on the TV. Channel surfing showed nothing interesting on so she turned it off, leaving the apartment draped in silence. Sadness overcame her and she began to feel restless. She didn't feel like going out, but being alone didn't interest her either. She wondered if Jesse was home. Grabbing the phone she punched in his number. He answered on the second ring.
   "Hel..hello?"
   "Jesse, you awake?"
"I am now. What's up Blue?" he asked sleepily.
"Ugh, Alan just called. He's moving back in with Sara. Said she was in trouble. He's gone." Her eyes began to fill but she wiped them away.
"Ouch. Hey, I'm really sorry. He was a jerk anyway, you know? Are you okay?"
"Yea, but I could use some company. Some drinks too."
"Sure. I'll bring along some new friends. You'll like them, one's form England and the other....I don't exactly know." He said laughing. "What about Natalie, Kendra and Lori?"
"Them too, just bring everybody. The more the merrier."
   "Okay, see you in twenty."
She hung it up and let her eyes sweep across the apartment, debating on whether or not she should 'tidy' up or not, but then decided against it.
It'll only get dirty anyway. She felt something in her hand and looked down to the picture of her and Alan. Angrily crumpling it up she threw it across the room. "No more," she mumbled.

   "Honey, we're home!"
"Chirs, I didn't know you wre coming!" Amara exclaimed running to the door. She laughed as he swept her up in a hug, spinning her around in the foyer.
"Chris stop or she'll hurl." Jesse said behind him. He gently put her back on the ground as Jesse stepped up besided them, followed by Natalie, otherwise known as Nat, Kendra and Lori. Two other guys stepped in but unknown to Amara.
"Hi," she said to them, "I'm Amara." She extended her hand.
"Oh, yeah. Amara this is Scott and this is Daniel. These are the friends I was talking about." Amara shook both of their hands as they walked in. "Hey, I'm Scott. Nice place." She noticed his accent.
Ah, the English guy. As she sook hands with Daniel she noticed Kendra eyeing Scott as he walked past her. Amara rolled her eyes and laughed.
"Hey," she turned around to Jesse who as lifting up the crates of beer, "where do you want these?"
"Coolers, in the kitchen. Stick 'em there."
"All right," Chris yelled, "let's go!"

Now four hours and multiple beers later, everyone crashed on the couch in the living room. They all stared at each other in a drunk stupor. Amara spoke up first.
"Well now is the time, ladies and gentlemen," she said through giggles, "for a game." She looked at each member of the group. All were drunk except Daniel who was still sipping on his first. "What shall it be?"
   "Spin the bottle!"
   "Suck & Blow!"
   "Twister!" Hilarious laughter.
"Truth or Dare" Jesse yelled out, looking directly at Amara.
"Yeah!," Chris whooped, "truth or dare!"
They all formed a circle and Amara grabbed a pencil and paper. Each person wrote their name on a slip and put it into the hat. Lori picked first.
"I got Nat." She looked at Nat and closed her eyes thinking. Suddenly she curved her lips in a sly smile.
   "Natalie, truth or dare?"
   "Ummm...,"
hiccup! she giggled and everyone laughed, "truth."
"Okay. Natalie, what is the biggest lie you have ever told Chris?"
"Aw Lori that sucked." Chris yelled.
"Yeah," Scott joined in, "think of a better one!" He smiled and slid his arm around Kendra's shoulder. They had gotten quite comfortable together.
Natalie laughed along but answered. "No, not it's good. Easy too. Let's see...the biggest lie I have ever told you honey," she said touching his knee, "...oh,oh! I've got it. The biggest lie I have ever told him would be how good he was the first time!" She yelled out reaching for her beer and laughing again.
"OH!" Jesse yelled out, clapping his hands and laughing. Amara put her hands over her face to hide her smile, all in vain, while Scott, Kendra and Lori wiped tears off their faces and held their stomachs, trying to breathe. Daniel just smiled as Chris looked dumbfounded sipping his beer. Seeing this Natalie snuggled up to him and put her head on his chest. "Oh, I'm sorry. Here lemme fix it." She reached up to kiss him, but instead belched loudly in his face. Everyone died laughing again which seemed to relax him. He smiled as he put his arm around Nat's waist.
So the game continued. Questions flew back and forth and answers were yelled out and laughed at. Finally, it was Jesse's turn. He picked Amara.
He didn't hesitate on questioning her. "Amara, truth or dare?"
