| CRITIQUES. One of the reference materials in this course is an as of yet unpublished book called Leveraging the Horizon by the instructor. The ten chapters of this book will be handed out in class in draft form. You will be asked to read them as part of the course requirements. An EXTRA CREDIT assignment that is OPTIONAL is to complete a short critique of each chapter. Each critique should be a short (1-2 page) Word document submitted via email that addresses the following points: 1) What main messages did you come away with by reading this? 2) Were there topics that should have been covered that were missing? 3) Did you understand what was being discussed? If not, what parts were fuzzy? 4) Was the sequencing logical? If not, what suggestions do you have? 5) Note any spelling, grammar, vocabulary or structural problems. 6) Any other comments you feel are relevant should be stated. To get credit for this assignment, the critique should be submitted within two weeks of the assigned reading. The critique must be substantive (i.e. you cannot simply say "I read it and found no problems") and show evidence that you put some time and thought into the exercise.
