Board Approves $25 Cash Jackpot Per Meeting
Remember when the club has a weekly Cash Jackpot? All members names were eligible to win. The catch was that the member had to be present when the name was announced. If not, another $5 was added for the next weekly drawing. The main thing was the member had to be at the meeting.
Following through on the theme of Renaissance, the Board at its May 16 meeting approved a $25 per meeting Cash Jackpot. If the member is absent, the Cash Jackpot increases by $25 until some member present has his/her name called. See you at Harrys Hofbrau Thursday May 25.

Murphys Laws In Action: It All Happens At One Time
Besides reports to write for a dozen projects (those reports the client wants yesterday), cogitating on how to make the office more efficient and "user friendly," ordering a new office work center, and trying to squeeze out time for Engineers Club, it gets hectic.
The new work center is one that needs 11 assembly. So hire someone who specializes in that kind of assembly to put it together. Evenings of two days are required, during which time computers are out of service (and so is the editor).
Contemplated was an envelope of goodies for all members. Never going to happen in time to get the Dope Sheet in the mail!
So, whats the answer? Simple. Priority one: get the notices out, THEN send the large envelope of goodies separately.
So each member gets the Dope Sheet today and the large envelope of additional goodies next week. We have not yet heard back from the people who have been traveling in outer space to recover time that can be distributed to the needy on earth.
The office is a mess, but we set up the computer, monitor, and printer to get out the essential Dope Sheet.
Getting Good Programs For Engineers Club
How difficult is it to speakers with a program of importance to engineers? It takes first a resolution to do so, and second to get one that the club will like.
This requires thinking for more than a few seconds. It takes visualizing what the accomplishments of the proposed speaker are. For instance, on a recent project, I saw that the company involved was a major installer of pipelines. Photographs on walls showed some of the accomplishment, like laying pipe more than 10-ft. in diameter.
The huge inventory of earth moving equipment in their expansive yard was impressive. They work all over the world and they are in our backyard. What they could present would be more than interesting. It would be spellbinding. Its a cinch that one of our past presidents (Carl Perry) knows this firm very well. He might know some of the principals so well he could set up a program for us. (Is that a hint?)
Another long-time member (although we dont have the privilege of seeing him very often) is Roy Nelson. He has been involved in some engineering work that would challenge anyone. (Another hint?)
Another impressive member - Nick Pal - has observed and been involved in some of the more unusual projects in engineering. A program from Nick would be as easy as falling off a log. Ken Meleen would have a litany of tales to tell about work he has been involved with. There arc accomplishments out there that few hear about. Wouldnt it be fairly, easy to move these accomplishments into the spotlight of Engineers Club?
Faint heart neer won fair lady, and some opine that we fail to ask because we dont want to face being turned down.
Board of Directors Meeting
The Board of Directors met at Harrys Hofbrau on Tuesday, May 16, and among other things, voted to meet at Harrys Hofbrau on Thursday, May 25 to see what would result from the change. The beauty of Harrys is that one can come in, get into the line that moves very fast, and order anything he or she wants. The food is good, the cost is low, and its good to be able to get what you want.
We meet in a room aside from the main dining area. It will be at the front of the building. While it doesnt have doors to close, the meeting should go well since many other groups meet at Harrys regularly and have no problems. The Saber Cats have their meetings here, as well as the NRA.
All officers and board members were present at the May 16 meeting. A lot of enthusiasm was observed and this should carry the club a long way.
Dale Detwiler furnished the printed page about Signal Central that youll find inside the Dope Sheet this month. The writeup gives detailed information about which Yves Zsuty and Kathy Ranney will speak.
